Anael, hope you're feeling better. I have a Pam Bono membership but I'm not fond of applique. Rank it right up there with y-seams and colonoscopies LOL. But I have to learn since I want to try a DJ. I like most of her blocks since they look like applique but aren't. I do have a problem getting her blocks to come out the right size. Probably won't renew.

Off on a FART with some friends today (like I need anything after my mega-shopping trip to the Expo) but the weather is gorgeous and we'll eat lunch out. My idea of a perfect day. Have a good one, ladies, and hope all of you are feeling better!

Lots of chatter. Mirabelle....your quilt is stunning....again!!! You are such a skilled artist.
Carrie...great finish. I hope your DH's friend appreciates it. Glad the retreat plans are coming along and you're getting another opinion on your shoulder.
QNS....what does it take to slow you down? Getting so tired is a clue that something needs attention. I'm glad that your lung is cleared up. When is your eye surgery?
Jan...have fun on your FART. It is a beautiful day here too.
dubib..keep up the PC blocks. You will have a lovely quilt.
DD...I've found that spray basting almost eliminates the possibility of wrinkles in the backing. You might want to give it a try. Don't give up on FMQ. I'm not there yet either but it sure does add a beautiful dimension to any piecing.
GrannyQ...thinking of you.
i have my SYE blocks 1&2 ready to sew together and 4 all done. Still have to sew the binding down on the Jamestown. Today I should get the last shipment of the mystery quilt I'm doing so I can see the finished product. I do like how it's coming along too. Lots to do. Studying the DJ project. It has always intrigued me since I saw one IRL at a quilt show. Did any if you read the article in the links yesterday where quilting has has been found to be good for you? They say it's better than exercise, etc. I knew there was a reason that I've been feeling so good.

LOL Jan, as long as it's machine applique I don't mind. I'll PM you.

I'm back from my appointment with the urologist. Things are a little complicated as she suspects there's more than only kidneystones, so more tests and a CT scan. CT scan on September 23rd and back to the urologist September 26th. She said they could try and crush the biggest stone but it's in an odd place and after that I would have to be held (spelling??) upside down and 'shake them out' she said
Got heavy painkillers which I hate to take because they make me very dizzy and tired.

Oh Anael---so sorry you have to be in so much pain. Praying for you while you have to wait for testing/results.

Jan--have fun today.

GG, I did use spray basting but that doesn't prevent the quilt from folding over and sewing 6 layers together That's what I did .......

I just read the article, glad to know as I can't ride my bike right now. I knew there must be a reason I'm quilting

Huggs Anael! My prayers are w/ya. DSonIL has had kidney stones several times. Hmmm I think the Navy just kept givin' him the run around & didn't git him any help a'tall. (If memory serves.) Just like they wouldn't take out the growth in his throat. After he left the Navy his new Dr discovered it was Thyroid cancer. He hasn't had any trouble w/the kidney stones since leavin' the Navy. I'm prayin' that he doesn't have any more.
For those o' ya who are interested in spray bastin' on the wall, at the old house I did it in the hall. I have a whole wall planned ta be my design wall here, at the new house. I'm gonna put cork tiles on it. That way I can put whatever I want. If I need ta spray bast I'll put somethin' up ta protect the cork (ie newspaper or some kind o' vinyl.) If I want it as a design wall I can either pin my blocks or put flannel up. I gotta git the cork up there first.

In our old house, I used a cardboard cutting mat and covered it with flannel and put it onto the wall, dublb. Also have used the wrong side of a flannel backed tablecloth from Wal Mart....when they go on sale for $1.50...cheap way of doing things.

I had to go to town this morning for more flats to finish canning the chicken and broth. Processing the 14 pints. Dh cut the chicken into small pieces and put them in the jars this morning.

Dh is pushing hard for me to 'arrange' the sewing room and teach him how to 'turn' on the new machine and already has his list going to by more feet for it. I picked up extra bobbins yesterday and a year's supply of thread, half light and half dark. (Saleslady smiled at the $$$ sale!)Gotta dig out the book for the 550 for DH to read. And got the nail polish today to mark each bobbin to a machine so they will not get mixed up by him or me.

Happy to be home; the knee hurts when I have to climb into the car, so I stop at fewer places and just do minimum at each store and still it takes forever to complete the journey. Will take dh to dentist tomorrow to have stitches removed, then I think I can have time to quilt...I hope. and get my MB into the mail soon.

I've had rotten luck posting all day--hope things have been improved. Finally have seen Friendship in the Garden block--great block QE!
Love the spot of Turquoise in your block Jan--good eye Ggal. So Jan what did you get today?
Hope the stone problems get resolved soon Anael--ouch is right.
mirabelle what can I say--your work is breathtaking. Thanks for sharing!
Isn't Carrie's quilt wonderful? Sure to please a lucky boy.
Meanwhile Janie is oblivious as she's enjoying her trip!
FMQ'er's at least you have gone beyond the stipple. I'm kind of stuck there. Must get at some bigger projects to really get into the rhythm I think. Guess we'll just keep practicing DD.
QNS--rest now and again. Oh but canned chicken sounds as good as canned beef!
While in potato country we brought home 100# of fresh potatoes. And since they don't keep well in the house I've started to cook some up and make mashed potatoes. Threw some in the freezer for future use. Oh I love my stew pot. After bookwork tomorrow I'm going to pick apples and get started on them.
Here's another finish. My QBuddy loved it--it was for their 50th.
