QuiltE....there are quilting snobs in all sorts of places. I'm just sorry that this one got you in the wrong side of MM. She is a wonderful, creative lady and her templates really work but they do take some getting used to. My instructor even admitted yesterday that she doesn't like to cut out with them BUT she does like the results so will continue to use them.

I am one who likes to 'collect' quilting tools and have MM templates in a box. They are lovely to 'look' at, used one or two to date, but who knows when I might want to use them??? Also her books that go with the templates..."Each to his/her own," said the Old Maid who kissed the cow. Growing up, I proudly claimed the back of the cows, and let Grandmother own the front. She feed the cow, I claimed the calves and the milk production!!

I look for novelty fabrics everywhere; gee, would you have guessed that by seeing my blocks?? No dairy prints where I have been, although I am still looking.

GGal ... I'm sorry that I let my frustrations be known. It's not really against MM, as the annoyance of the shop owner! I'm sure I've said it before, and if not, here it is again ... I'm sure MM is a wonderful person, and her techniques too. I just think this shop owner needs to lighten up and accept that MM is not the ONLY way to sew! BTW ... I saw a BOM for this fall at one of the shops in the hop .... "Jinny meets Marty" ... Jinny Beyer fabrics and Marty Michel templates. I'm assuming it's a MM pattern, though I'm not sure. Beautiful Jinny fabrics all in the same magenta/burgundy colour family with a fream background and then bordered with one of Jinny's border prints!

QNSue ... No! we'd never have guessed that you liked novelty prints!! Have you managed to get one for each of your fowl and livestock that you have in residency in the barn?

What barn?? They reside in the orchard....with a divided fence. Pullets on one side in their own little hen house, with the guineas and the ducks and turkeys on their side with Quonset(?) huts for each. but they will not put themselves to bed. And it was really dark by the time we got to them this evening. Yes, QuiltE,I have novelty prints for the ducks, turkeys, hens, and cats...two single bed quilts of cat quilts.

Drought is getting worse, and we are trying to decide what to let go of in the garden and maintain a minimum of planted tires. Trees and bushes are dying. Ground is cracked and uneven everywhere. Flower beds are cleaned out, laundry done, and kitchen clean one more time.

Hard choices, QNS. Sorry you have to make them. Garden is not what I expected here, either.
I've been saving our shower water and carrying it out the front door to water plants. Fortunately not a long haul. Using some of it to clean off the baby bird poop from the swallow's nest on the the porch. Hated to knock the nest down when there were baby birds in it, but they will soon fledge , then will knock it down and I'll still have some "bug catchers". Kind of like your robins, QE.

QNSue ... Barn ... should have said farm! should I blame it on the heat? or too tired from my wild weekend FART?

OKSGlad ... nice to have and enjoy, but could they please be better trained? I was not disappointed when mine flew the coop!



I drove home thru a wicked storm yesterday ......... not a drop here!
I was totally amazed at the crops when I was gone ... for the better part all looked good. A few areas where things were a bit bleak, but not bad. Guess they got the periodic rain, minimal as it was, and recovered.

All is dry here ... sumac trees are dying off, plants in beds are toast, even the black eyed susans and ferns on the edge of the bush. Now if only the weeds would perish with this heat, but it doesn't seem as that'll happen as they are popping up amidst the crispy brown grass!

We got some rain last week. That makes 4 times this year. One a month since April. Last year, none. So we are slightly better this year. I didn't even plant my garden.

I collected 9 Ice Cream buckets (Schwan's gallon and half) of tomatoes this morning, and they filled my double sink in the Island. Then we picked the peaches and nectarines and filled 6 more Ice Cream buckets, but dh left the ladder inside the fence lending on the fence. He wondered why he saw two turkeys walking across our front lawn an hour or so later... It took the ends of two loves of stale bread to bribe them back into in duck's pond. The ducks raised up their heads in the shade and refused to come out into the sunshine to eat any bread. That was OK with the turkeys who goggled up the bread and waded in the pool.+++++++++++++++

Locally grown peaches, corn, tomatoes etc. are now available here.
