I thought a clapper was the thing that old woman uses to turn on/off her lights. You know "clap on; clap off". (I think the only time they show that commercial is Christmas--do they think that's what someone really wants??)

For those pesky (luckily not too many) too-many-seams-in-one-place, I used a rubber mallet to pound them into submission! Went easy on the pounding, though -- didn't want any busted seams.

No, QuiltE, she isn't!!! She even shows how it works!!! I really do understand the concept of this gadget. Have you ever ironed a stubborn seam only to find that 5 minutes later it's not quite as flat as when you first pressed it?? Cooling sets the seam and the clapper keeps it flat as it absorbs the heat. Yay!! Anne

You know what I've been doing for flat seams? Thanks to this board I've discovered the merits of spray starch. I press it as best I can, then a squirt of starch and press/steam/starch .... flat as a pancake!

Only problem ... I'm now discovering that spray starch seems to be disappearing from the store shelves. I don't think it's quilters rather that for some reason it's being either discontinued or delisted. Now I feel like a hoarder ... as I snatch one whenever I come across it and am starting to build a stash!

OKSGlad .... You've been around the farm too long .... ie grab the hammer first! At least it's not duct tape you're grabbing, as you know it fixes EVERYTHING!!!!!!
