Jolo...you are amazingly fast! I like how your changed the placement on the melon block. I figure "its MY quilt" and I feel free to change things as I please. I do try to stick to the spirit...but sometimes...things just happen, you know? I think you are doing well with your PP'ing too :D

Jolo, you are doing well with the paper piecing - a small suggestion - have you tried starching your fabrics? I find that if I practically turn the fabric into paper, I get a better result. I also starch it when it's done with Best Press and iron it all flat. Seems to help...

    Your blocks are great too!

And Patti...yours are also great. Love the 3 colored tri - is that the same fabric and fussy cut?

No I havent starched, I did get some spray on sizing and am going to try that. I know my pics dont do justice to my blocks the look bad in the pics and they are really not that bad. Or else I do need to go have my cataracts done. lol Jolo

they don't look bad at all, they just look like they are soft...starching the bejezzez out of them is helpful for flat blocks when you're done! I know it helps me all along, the more starch the better! I sometimes triple starch the piece of fabric before I cut it!!

Two lovely sets, ladies, so nice to see different colourways, and how they make the blocks look so different too. Jolo, you are going great guns with trying to catch up - it won't be long before you tell us that you have done all the backlog, and are up there with everybody else.

Believe me, I was rubbish at PPing when I started, with negligable experience up to that point. I really struggled with them until I gave in and cut the patches much bigger than I thought they should be, then trimmed them down afterwards. I have even got the hang of the harder triangular patches in those more awkward blocks now, thank goodness.

Boy I am still struggling with the little angles. I always sew the angle the wrong way. But I will win Jolo

LOL, Jolo, I did exactly the same, in fact I was on the point of giving up, because I thought I would never 'get' it, and suddenly the penny dropped, and it became much easier.

Stick with it, I promise it gets easier. (well, it did in my case).

To be honest, whenever I cut things bigger, I can't seem to properly line them up for the piecing part, unless I know for sure it's out outside edge that won't require specific alignment...
