:D I think if you really don't want to do the PP you could print out the pattern, for the PP, draw a 1/4 inch seam allowance around each section, cut out and sew as if piecing. You would have to print out the pattern three times for each section to be able to add the seam allowance to each. The two patterns are just mirrors of each other. Does this make any sense to anyone? But the patterns are probably one of the easiest PP you are going to get. That part of the pattern. I have not made it yet either, so I may be kicking myself harder when I start it then any of you feel like kicking me right now. I have my fabric ready and am starting it tomorrow morning (which is this morning because it is now 2 AM. I can't sleep. Have fun every one. :D :D

Hmm, after reading that a couple of you ( P & S ) might come up with something for the y seams, maybe I should wait. :D I am going way out and actually going to use blues and red and see if I can pull it off. If not I will pull out some perttier fabric. We will see......... :D

This is my version, i know i changed the pattern, and turned it into a 16" block when it's all put together, but you can see how i got rid of the Y seam by just going right through the centre square...clear as mud? lol

I think if a person wanted to do the pattern without changing it, you could take the navy blue square in the centre of the star, and turn it into four blue triangles, and that would eliminate the Y seam too :)

both methods are pretty clever.
i don't know yet what ShellyQ is launching toward this star, but your methods are completely different to the idea i'm working on.
folks will have several method choices by the end of this weekend. how kewl is that? :P

DonnaRae, what a pretty block!!!
I don't mind the paper piecing or the Y-seams.
I just don't have a printer to print the templates... :( :( :(
I've gone as far before as to trace the template on the screen. That just doesn't seem to work either. When I get a printer, or find a friend with one, I will definitely try it!
