Shelly, great pattern. I am going to download-just in case. I do like the pattern once it is done. :D

i have taken the photos but not yet finished the written instructions to go with the Y-seam versions. I don't plan to make the No-Y versions, so there will be no companion article for them. In the meantime, for tips on working with Y-Seams, check out the Hexagons tutuorial. The shapes are different, but the same basic principals apply.

I didn't use the templates for this version. I used my rotary ruler to roughly measure the "y-squares" and strips, then used the Piecing Guide as a pattern to cut the corner sections down to proper size.

I photographed the finished block without decorative satin stitching so you could see that i didn't need to cheat by appliqueing the center square to this one. I also left the strings dangling because i wanted to show off the fact that it all lined up without trimming. that almost never happens for me. YIPPEE!!! :P

    Oh yay, oh yay!

The mailman just came and delivered a package from DonnaRae filled with templates!

I can't wait to sit at the sewing machine and figure it out! Too bad I have to wait for DH to get home from work to watch the kids so I can have some quiet time.

I know it will seem like forever until he gets home!

    I'm so excited!!!
