I just finished a block from Elly Seikewinz's (bad spelling, huh?) book. Wish I had had this tutorial before making the rosebuds. Yours look really great! And have personality. The directions in Elly's book were lacking.

I took her method and adapted it to make it easier to do.
Thanks for you nice comments and hope you try it on another quilt.

I think it will look pretty anyway you want to do the colors.
Have fun and mix & match.

Make the rosebud and tack it in place. Now Make the calyx for fusible, leaving the top section without the fusible stuff on the back. Add the folding seam allowance to the top section.
Lightly press under the top of the calyx, use a little glue to hold in place. Now tack the bottom of the calyx in place.
Now do whatever stitch you use to sew in place.
To get the puffiness of the rose bud, I would hand stitch the top edge of the calyx across the rosebud. But if you can't, go ahead and stitch with the machine.
Hope this works for you.
