It is so wonderful to see all the helpful people on this thread! What fun we are going to have! All those new to Paper Piecing, if us "old timers" to FWS quilts can learn, you newbies can too.

Great video! Thanks for sharing... Question, they don't show her pressing, I'm assuming that's just for ease of filming correct? You still press after trimming the seams correct?

I always press the seams after I sew them.

I always keep the "Best Press" bottle handy to press quilt blocks.

Hi teri Lynn, Where in Jersey do you hail from?? PPing is not hard to do..It does take some time to get the hang of it.. If you are not too far I could really help you personally.. PM me to let me know if you don't want to put it on the "board"...Honchey

Hi, Teri Lynn! Check out the freezer paper method of paper piecing, too. That's the way I do it. You don't sew through the paper. You fold it as you go and sew along the edge of the fold. Twiddletales has a good tutorial for it. QNS, you might like this method, too. You iron the freezer paper to the fabric as you go instead of using glue.

I have been trying to find foundation paper, and the piecing thread. But luck in my area. does anyone have some where I could order it. Also I was told I need to use a 50 /60 weight thread?? As I said before this is my first time doing this. I have watch a couple different ways, and I don't think it is going to be to bad..

I use newsprint for my Paper Piecing foundation paper. It goes through the printer just fine and tears off easily when you are ready to remove it. I get it from Dick Blick. You can buy 2 reams for the same shipping cost as one. Or you can get Scribble Pads from the dollar store and cut it 8 1/2 X 11.

Gayle I use regular recycled copy paper that the gals at my former office save for me. It's amazing how much copy paper we waste (cover sheets, duplicates, etc) that in 6 months I have a stack equal to 5 reams of paper. I like the idea of recycling but if I didn't have access to this I'd buy cheap copy paper at Walmart. I've never had problems removing it. As for thread, I use ConnectingThreads thread, never bought any special thread for pp.
