I'm feeling quite accomplished on this Mystery quilt, even though I am not all caught up. Today I finished all my HST's for Part 3 (yea!!) and cut most of the triangles to attach to the HST's for Part 5. I also cut more of my blues to finish making my string blocks for Part 2, even while helping with my 3 grandkids while my daughter and her dad (my DH) made chocolate covered peanut butter balls--yum. Great day!!

Cindy, I am praying for you. Hugs.

Karen, sounds great, I don't think you are behind at all.

I am at standstill with the mystery as I am trying to finish my mom's quilt for Christmas, and we are flying to my inlaws for Christmas, but I am planning on taking my HSTs and wings fabrics and get them squared and cut so I can sew them when I get back. I have three days off work after the new year that I hope to use to get caught up on this mystery.

Is anyone having trouble sewing these tiny wings. For some reason they are getting cut in the feed dogs. What am I doing wrong?

I don't usually have any problem with the feed dogs, but I found on these little pieces I need to start quite slowly and then I can speed up.

Maybe that is what I need to do. They are soooo tiny to work with. I have 60 done so far.

Hey guys... Bonnie put step 6 up a day early! Just wanted to let you guys know that it was there for the ones that are not falling behind. She is finally making some blocks out of what we are doing now and it looks so nice.

I also have a request from all my friends here on the quilting board also. I found out yesterday that my grandmother in FL(that I haven't gotten to see in a very long time) is in the hospital. We have been told that she doesn't have any circulation in one of her valves and her bowels are shutting down. There is some other technical stuff that explains some of this, but I can't process enough to explain it. They say that the only way to really fix this is surgery, but from the sounds of it they don't think she would survive that. She is having a consultation with a surgeon this morning, so wont know anything until then. Please keep her in your prayers as she is in extreme pain. I was making this quilt for her, but this has kind of put me in a mood to not do anything right now. My sister is up here visiting and she was already here when we got the call, but now we are not sure what the plans are. We might be taking a emergency trip to FL soon.

So sorry about that brookemarie19, have said a prayer already and will continue for you. May the Lord help you in your decision making as to what to do.

I made a dozen blue string blocks yesterday and have about 30 more to sew. I do love making strings!! They probably take me a bit longer to make as I predetermine strips of fabrics to go in each block, and lay them on the paper. I usually have to add one more strip as the seams always take up more space than I think, but this method seems to work well for me.

I'm a bit sad I probably won't get much more sewing done now till after Christmas...I have to really tidy up my sewing room, and put the "mess" as my DH would call it, to make room for a pack n' play or two to be kept in it. I also have to clean the house and ready it for a house full of guests to sleep here. I need to do some baking as well, and then tomorrow morning will be grandkiddos (3) watching while my daughter makes a favorite Greek dish for her dad (one his mom always made and he hasn't had in quite a while!), and a little last minute stocking stuffer shopping! So I better get busy.

Glad to see we are going to start making blocks with some of our pieces in Part 6!!

brookemarie19: praying for you, your family, and especially for the relief of the pain your grandmother is having. May God give you strength, peace and comfort at this time.

    Merry Christmas everyone!
