okay, sounds good to me, I just in the past had used three inches for a overall base on any square as half square triangles are frustrating to me, but I agree 4-1/4 works well here

I love the Hunter's star pattern. I'm in the process of making my nephew a quilt with that block made into the carpenter's star layout. I'm going to start sewing today while watching football
will post pics later I hope.

Hi Judy and all the other train riders, I am a late joiner. I viewed all your lovely choices of fabric and comments before I started working on mine but I believe I am all caught up now. I was a little worried about my fabric choices at first but after it is put together I am beginning to really like it now. When I input the fabric E into it, it will all come together nicely. I feel good about catching up. I will have to work on one of my UFO's until we get our next clue. Thank you Judy for all your time and efforts that you have put into this project.

Jaba - I love your fabric choices, and your starts are so perfect compared to mine, but I think you might have switched D & E as in the pic you have the floral as D but used the blue in your star and squares. We haven't used any E yet.

O.K. I did it!!! I did the stars.
I don't know what is wrong with me, in my younger years, i always did stars. In the past 15-20 yrs, i've shyed away from them and felt like i was jumping in ice water to do these. BUT,,,,I persevered, and i got them done, Yipee!!!
Now to wait for the next clue. I'm not a good waiter, I want my next clue, it's exciting trying to figure out what comes next.
Thank you again Judy for a great ride so far.

Belfry - hadn't seen the connecting threads one before, thanks for sharing. And wow - great colors. if you are changing your E, wait till ready to cut the E pieces and decide at that poing. Me, p;ersonally, I love color and movement, so am voting by myself, I guess, as it looks like most votes for the left side. Was your mult color print your D? I think so but not sure.
HappyLab -- I really like your first fabric choices the best with switching A & D. That magenta really rocks with the print you have. It is just a richer arrangement to me -- then again your other choices are great as well.
Now I'm off to finish my stars. Have the centers pieced but need to work up more flying geese. I'm really enjoying this mystery train.
