I really like the Jinny Beyer touch to your block. It is just the right amount. Some of Penny's blocks were a bit busy for my taste but, I love your block,Deecee. I want to add that Penny's quilt on the cover of the book looks wonderful all put together.

    Why thank you ladies.

I love Jinny Beyer's fabrics. I actually had a look at this one in my LQS so I new exactly what it was like and then ordered it from the U.S. Even with postage it was still half our local price.

I do like to see the actual fabric before I order off the internet so I know what I am getting.

Judith - I don't mind busy but I did think some of the fabric combinations PH used came up a little confusing in some of the blocks.

I am setting my quilt out just using the 6" blocks and not setting them into the stars which is also an option in the book.

Looking forward to seeing everyone else's block. Get cracking!!

Welcome back to the group, Judith. Your blocks are lovely, such nice colors.

Deecee, your block is gorgeous. The fussy cuts add so much. Beautiful!

Here's my "Bird's Nest." I continue to be amazed at how our fabric placement makes the same block look so different. Mine doesn't look like a bird's nest at all. It looks like a cross.

Here is my next block. I almost did what I learned I don't like and that is to make the star and the next fabric next to it with not much contrast. I enjoy working on these blocks mostly because I learn from PH's technique as well as inserting what I have learned from the past and decide the way I like it best. What fun!

I agree, Irene, it looks like a cross and a very attractive one, too!

Great block Irene. I see you changed yours slightly from the pattern also. I wanted to utilise more of my border fabric so changed the corners.

Judith - love your colour/fabric choices. Are you doing machine applique?

Thank you, Deecee. Yes, I learned a technique where it looks more like hand applique but it is done by machine.

    Where is everyone? Helloooooo.

I rushed this block and am not happy with it but, there it is.

My DH is in hospital at present so I may have another look at this block when life settles down - but probably not............I'm not in the habit of redoing stuff once it is finished.

Hope to see some other blocks appear shortly.

    Hi Deecee,
I hope your husband is feeling better soon. I agree with you about not re-doing blocks. Yours already looks perfect. I'm at the beach right now on my little netbook and had actually forgotten about our PH applique for the week. I did complete it before leaving for the beach so here it is. I don't like how mine looks at all. I think it is one of the uglier blocks I've made :(
