I love the Verna block, too! That was my DH's grandmother. She lived with us for a couple of years. I'm thinking of making table toppers using that block for her kids and grandkids. They all adored her so much.

Just so you realize I named these blocks. I am sure there are traditional names for this block out there somewhere. Most of my quilt blocks are original to me but alot of the HSTs are bound to be out there somewhere.

I just thought old fashioned names went well with my traditonal looking quilt blocks. and easier than doing all the research and choosing names for each quilt block.

I just don't want to misrepresent my work.

I like the idea of having an old fashioned name instead of some of the block names. And if you designed it, you can name it what ever you want. And it's Rhonda's (soon to be famous) sampler. :)

I like both of the blocks but verna is beautiful. You picked the perfect fabric for her. You are doing such a wonderful job with Rhonda's blocks, I am jealous that I can't work on them yet.

That's ok. I thought you'd probably named it yourself. I've never seen the block with that name before. But I like it and I loved her, so if you don't mind I'm sticking with my plan of table toppers with this design.

I am honored to have you use it that way! It is a great way for me to remember my grandma. I have always been fascinated with how many V names there were in that generation. My other grandma was Leora and those were names I had never heard anywhere else til I was an adult. I love the old fashioned names. My grandpa had twin cousins named Viola and Violet. There were a lot of V names back then. Flossie was an elderly lady I used to visit. And Hattie was the name of a lady I used to take care of. I loved her name. We have drawn on family names and I have asked alot of people for names. I just think the old fashioned names make these quilt blocks special.

I'll be working on them for a while, and after Christmas, which isn't that far away, you can catch up to me. And I'll be anxious to see more of your blocks.

Well people all over the world have seen these. My sister isn't on the board, but I've told her about them. She's lucky enough that every Monday she goes to her LQS and works on quilts from 9 in the morning until 4:30. So she is always around new fabrics. Lucky girl. She got me into machine quilting, so I'll get her to use her scrapes and make "Rhonda's soon to be famous Sampler". :)

Well I am glad you like them. I have so much fun designing on my EQ. I love seeing what happens when you change this or that and a whole new pattern emerges. I was just thinking I need to go play and get 3 more ready for Sun.
