Lacelady, I have access to a couple frames but prefer to use a large hoop. I have several different styles but have a couple favorites. My hoops are from my grandmother and the frames from my mother. Since I learned with the hoop originally and have had the freedom of turning the hoop rather than my hand, I have a more difficult time with the restrictions of a frame.

i plan on doing some echo quilting/etc on the pieced blocks and triangles then the solid triangle units will have more detailed design work.

DH is now asleep in bed and he's been given a perfect bill of health and we go back in 2 years to do it all again.
its so very rough on him. on his mother's side of the family they have the gene for colon cancer. the longest any one lived was 58. 8 years ago i convinced him to let me test him for the gene. this is typically a very ethical problem because even if you have the gene it doesn't mean you'll ever get the cancer. i told him this and said but at least this is a very treatable cancer when caught early and had your other family members known their outcome could have been quite different. well, as you can guess he has the gene. so for the past 8 years (every 2 years) its a battery of tests and a source of major stress for him. this afternoon when we were leaving he said "some days i wish i didn't know" and i said "i know - its a burden to carry" |
Please tell him to keep going for the tests. 1 in every 10 men get colon cancer in America. I assure you its better the tests than having what my husband is going through.

Elle, IMHO, you will be fine with minimal quilting in the pieced blocks, but you might want to do just a little stitch in the ditch so the entire block won't be so loose...know what I mean?
Klue...sorry about your DH having to go through the tests..but its best to do that rather than the other option...which is Elle's husband.. :( |

Yes, glad to hear he's got a clean bill of health. I have a friend/former client who has Hungtington's Disease in her mother's family. She has not been tested, but conceived her children in a way where the doctor was able to select eggs that did not carry the gene, or they were 'test tubes' that were tested before implantation to be sure there was no gene. I think it was clear from the fact that they did not implant several that she has the gene, and will get the disease. If you carry, get it.
So KLue, back to the regular routine for all I hope. |
everything is almost back to routine - i have some more work to do tomorrow but i should be done by saturday.
