She has a technique for circles that I think will come in extremely handy for our blocks. check her out and see what you think. She's an amazing quilter...

Esqmommy posted this on page 171. If you go to the website and click on the "Pieclique Circle" - she suggests using spray starch to shrink it.

I "paint" starch around the edges of it when I use it to applique. I does shrink just a tiny little bit. This has never bothered me though. I guess if you are trying to be that exact though, it would.

I tried the "back basting" method last night though and I really like that! Here is a link to that: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-16857-1.htm

It was on the Janome 6500 users group. I will try it but I can't post pics until my lapout is fixed. :-(

I've never done this before. Bear with me while I learn the
ropes, please.

Here is a chart I made in Microsoft Excel for the Trip Around the World color layout. I kept having a hard time getting in my mind which block should be what color. I had to draw it out on paper. Thought I would share in case there are other minds out there like mine. :-) Sorry I couldn't post this as a pdf. I don't have the software to convert it.

Hey, thanks for the spreadsheet/color layout. Can you tell me what you think the 12 colors ARE? I keep wishing someone had figured out the last 6, as the initial rows around the center are discernable. Its those last ones that get a bit..."it might be", probably, etc.

It is hard to figure out what colors she used after first five or six rows going out from the center. I think she started using whatever her had from that point out. They look to be mostly browns to me.

It is believed that the fabrics have faded after all these years and that they weren't meant to be just plain browns. Some of them are purples that have faded and I think there is a section of blues, but I'm not positive. The four corners are definitely green...I know, not much help am I!?!

If you go on Brenda's website, there is a description of the colorway and what they are all around the quilt. I posted the link previously. If you good "dear jane" and "brenda", her site comes up. It's in there!!
