I am already intending to do that, because I want to quilt a pretty design in each triangle, and I think my plain background fabric will do nicely. I have ordered a slightly darker batik fabric for cornerstones and matching binding though. I am still debating with myself about whether to use half inch sashing or three quarter inch, which would bring the size up a couple of inches. I have a king size bed, and 80in isn't all that big, is it?

I hadn't considered this but we're getting a king sized bed and I guess I'd better consider it. Has anyone figured out how many extra triangles will be needed if you make the sashing bigger? Darn it, I really need to go play with the software and figure it out.

I would like to join in. Do you think it's too late or could I just start with April's blocks and work backwards if I find any spare time? I won the book in an eBay auction. Could I survive without the software?

I really rely on the software to print the patterns and see how they fit together. It also cuts out the math. lol I also started late. I started out with week 10,worked thru wk. 13 and this week that the group if off,I am going back to the first weeks. I almost have wk 1 done. Jolo

You can always decide on the sashing fabric later, but IF you are changing the size of the sashing...it will change the size of the software. I think that BlueChicken discovered this early on when she was playing with her sashing designs. If I remember correctly, she was going to use the "storm at sea" looking sashing and it changed the size of all her triangles. Tiff, the software will figure out all of that for you...its pretty user friendly...I'd spend a couple of hours playing if I were you....Have fun!!

Well, maybe I'd better look into getting the software also. I was not a member when I purchased the book and therefore hadn't read all the suggestions about buying the software over buying the book. Thanks for the encouragement about starting my blocks where the group is now.

Philarena,
While the software is not required to do this quilt, I do not see how people could possibly keep up with the schedule without it. Jump in and try a couple of blocks while we're on an "off" week to see what works best for you.
WELCOME to the group!!!!

Thank you! I'm glad to be here! I am going to look into getting the software.

You can order it from Amazon. I didn't have any local place to purchase from but am not sure if it's easier in FL. I'm sending you a PM.
