I need to make a couple of these but didn't have time today, sewing batik blocks. Sulabug do you know when they will start the block of the month again? Think this project of the month will be great, seems like I always need some little giftee's.

Verda 01-03-2014 07:38 PM

thank you for this project! I
think I will do these as opposed to blocks of the month

Carsey 01-03-2014 08:41 PM

Sulabug:

This fabric box is adorable! Great idea!!

Blessings!

I like this idea of a doable project. I have been wanting to make one of these baskets/boxes. So I am going to plan on this one.

AngeliaNR 01-04-2014 08:42 AM

I wonder if the BOM and POM could be on separate threads, so finding the directions for each would be easier?

DJ 01-04-2014 03:08 PM

I love this idea. Hope I can get around to it, because I have a friend I could make this January project for. Her birthday is in April, so I'd be way ahead!

I got one done! Whoohoo! I thought about making this for some time. All it took was this thread to get me going:) I think it turned out good. It didn't take me long at all, and I think I will make some for valentine's day. Christmas, and birthdays. This is awesome. Thanks

luvTooQuilt 01-04-2014 07:11 PM

Deedum- what size sq and what size triangle did you do?

deedum 01-04-2014 08:21 PM

luvTooQuilt,
I use a 10" square and a 2" triangle. I just posted more on the other thread with photos. I guess this thread is directions and the other one photos. I will say it is fun to make and quick.

I made bunches of these last year. Will post them. I'd love to join in. I won't be making another box this month but look forward to next months project. This is a great project idea Sulabug. These boxes are so useful. I made dozens and I'm using them to store my bits of fabric. Also these are great stash busters. I did post some pictures on my blog

Having trouble getting motivated for some reason. Maybe this will get the fires burning again.

lolthom 01-06-2014 02:57 PM

when will the first BOM be posted?

From what I've seen so far there won't be a BOM here on the board. There are some already going on like Spike Your English which is PP.
There's a thread already started where people are putting links for some on other sites. I'm doing a few despite my resolution not to- lol

SoBuzy 01-06-2014 06:09 PM

I would like to join!

jaba 01-06-2014 08:28 PM

lolthom, I'm the same way. Would just like to know if there is going to be one or not. I'm kind of on hold because I wanted to make my quilt larger so I haven't done more blocks to finish it out from last year.
Sulabug, can you tell us if they are going to continue or not??? Sorry if I'm asking the wrong person, thought you started it last year, if I'm wrong I apologize, but thought you might know.

AngeliaNR 01-06-2014 08:46 PM

Patrice posted that though they had planned only to do a project of the month, the interest in a BOM was great enough that there will be one for 2014. Two blocks in Feb. and one per month after that.

What a great idea SulaBug! This is the first time I have wandered into Project of the Month. It looks sew easy, and I am surely going to give it a try!

jaba 01-07-2014 04:08 PM

Seems like it mimi! We must be drawn to the same things, does that mean great minds think and work alike? :D

lynnie 01-07-2014 04:56 PM

The first Block of the Month for 2014 will be posted the first of February. We plan on having two blocks for February so we can get caught up right away. From then on it will just be one block pattern for each of the remaining month's. I hope you will be joining us too. We always have so much fun talking about how our blocks are going together & even asking for help if needed. It will be so much FUN!!

Fabric Boxes with French Seams Tutorial

Hello again Ladies,
I found this tutorial posted under our Tutorial section this evening & thought you might be interested in how to make your baskets using the French Seam method. I am anxious to give it a try & I hope you will too. Good Luck to Everyone!!
:D :D :D :D

mimiknoxtaylor 01-10-2014 06:21 AM

Sulabug, I just looked at the box with French seams. I had already bookmarked it but had never made one with the French seams. I have finished a couple & still need to do pix. I have another few that are just quilted so will try this method of finishing. Thanks for sharing that.

pattilynn 01-15-2014 10:09 PM

I am going to make some of these tomorrow, they are lovely.
One question, do I need to sign up or just follow you each month.

Hello there..............no, you don't need to sign up for these projects. Just tune in the first of each month, to see what the new project for that month will be!! Good Luck with your boxes & we will be anxiously waiting to see photo's of what you make!!
:D :D :D :D

coastienest 01-17-2014 08:17 PM

Count me in too. Love the thought of doing something different each month. Nice diversion from quilting per say. Starting late here but it is still January, so I guess I'm not to far off. Thanks for all you do Sulabug!

TexasRose13 01-18-2014 02:14 PM

I am looking through my stash now this s a good project SulgaBug. I will let you know how it goes for me.

rootyr 01-20-2014 03:20 PM

I am going to make this, that is for sure! TY

lauriejo 01-20-2014 04:34 PM

Great idea for a first project! This is just the incentive I need to quit looking at these boxes and start sewing.

Emma S 01-20-2014 04:51 PM

I just happened on this thread. I've admired those boxes. I'm in.

pyffer3 01-21-2014 02:32 PM

I loved these little boxes when I first saw the pattern in December. I make a couple dozen in Christmas prints and filled with baggies of homemade goodies for co-workers and another filled with buttons for a teen. They are really great! Thanks for the reminder. I think I'll make some Easter boxes!

cindynvb 01-31-2014 03:30 PM

I'm thinking these could be a good way to use up some of those orphan blocks! When I get home from vacation I'm going to try one.
Cindy
