[quote=pab58]Okay everyone, here is my block #11. Now don't get too upset with me because I didn't make the lilypad (that's what I'm calling it anyway ;) ). I mentioned in another post that I liked the open/lacy look of most of the blocks so I wanted to keep that look with the "lilypad" blocks.

Pab58,
Your block is beautifull. To tell you the truth, I didn't like the lilypad but didn't think of your idea. I wish I saw your block before I did mine. Your embroidery is great too!. Give it a try at teh reverse applique, first time I tried it didn't come out very good but this time it came out nice. Go for it!

Heck Patty, I love your version of the block. I wish I had thought of it myself!

You do have options on the reverse applique if you want....I didn't do it! I made that block in 7"...I did it just regular applique. I posted at the beginning of the thread to tell you how. So...do reverse if you want to...don't do that way if you don't!

Well, so far the reverse applique is working out. I just get so aggrevated at myself that I still can't seem to get pointy points and sharp dips!!! I know I will get better the more I do, but right now the points look blunted/stubby and and the dips look curved.

Well in that case, you will be pleased it's the only block done this way (but it is practice for the big border). Well done for tackling it, and yes, your points and dips will improve.

They definately will improve. I am busy sewing my middle together and I looked at my first blocks and I am happy to report that Ihave improved somewhat. anyways no one will notice, no one actually knows what they are supposed to look like

You know Elle, I had the same thought! I too am sewing my middle and have to admit to remaking 1 block. But several others although tempted, I didn't because I really want to see my improvement as I get further along.

I am definately leaving mine, they are staying put.

pab58 07-08-2011 11:01 AM

Well, I'm thinking that if I don't like something about each of the blocks I do and want to remake them, I would NEVER finish this quilt!!

I haven't mentioned this before, but I am keeping a journal of this quilt. My sister had given me a quilt journal years ago, but I already had an album where I was keeping my quilt photos, fabric swatches used in the quilts, and my design papers. This particular journal will have a pic of each block along with comments about my trials and errors and my successess, too. I am recording any changes I make to the blocks along with the block numbers (the one from the book and the one from the QB). I might not put fabric swatches in it, but I might take pictures of the fabrics used in each block and post the pic on the appropriate page. I'm hoping that by the end I will have a journal that will be a written history of my AOTH journey. Maybe some day when I'm gone my sister or nieces will look through it and remember me and my love for quilting. ;)

That sounds lovely, what a great idea.
