Lovely blocks Judy - My narrow borders are not quite 1.5ins, I was working on the fact that I sized up the blocks by 1.42% so the border should be the same. But then I am doing Aie's layout, so I couldn't change them much or the outer (big) border wouldn't fit.
I cut them 2in wide, and sewed a good quarter inch in the seams, rather than a scant quarter in. When you are doing on point, then the world is your oyster with layouts and width of sashings, borders etc. |
My AOTH work is on hold for a few more days. I ordered some of the Razzle Dazzle and am waiting for it to arrive. In the meantime, I'm getting caught up on things around the house. Still have to do the weeding, but lawns are mowed. Good thing too as it has been stormy all day. I was awakened around six by our county Code Red alert. I signed up for the automated phone alert and when the National Weather Service issues a severe weather alert, my phone rings. There was much wind damage in Denison, probably from 65 mph straight line winds. Thank goodness my kids and grands have no damage. Though some houses around them had trees down. We have storms forecast for the next few days. Just got through watching the wind in the trees, felt sure they were going to snap. All calmer now. My weather vane was whirling around and around.

How did I get so blessed to have such talented and generous friends? Must be this mousie halo I wear, lol! :XD: (why do I hear dh snickering?) |
Judy, LOVE your blocks all laid out....you might need to borrow Mousies Al-kabong skillet for your DH! I am going to lay mine out as if they were being done the same way that the pattern calls for....maybe...LOL! In other words..start with block #8, block #9, etc. only turn them on point.
For those of you doing trapunto.....its VERY important that you use high loft poly for the trapunto part. Cotton in that part has the potential of leaving your trapunto looking a bit like your grandma's bra...if ya' know what I mean. Then you can use whatever is your favorite batting and sandwich as usual. I can't wait to see your half square tri's Judy! |
Thanks for the tip about the high loft poly batting, didnīt know that, donīt know what I am going to do with my outer sashing, could be some trapunto, but I will have to see if I can ACTUALLY do it first that might be a good idea
|
I've never seen high loft for sale here, so I always use two layers of ordinary poly batting, and it's a great way to use up scraps of it too.

whew! I finally have all of my book pages scanned in to the computer.
I cant remember the enlargment size for 10 inch squares  If any of yall can help me out here I would apprechiate it. question: is it just me or in the original do the blocks seem crowded???? it is probably just my strange brain, but I was thinking of copying the pattern a little smaller than exact scale, so... my blocks can BREATH better. |
Right Lesley...either High loft or 2 layers of regular poly...both work..its just the cotton that can give you a problem.
Candace...I believe its 142% for a 10" block. Do you mean the block itself is crowded or the blocks in the center are crowded together with no sashing between them?? |
I was thinking that they look a bit bland all together in the middle, maybe a very small sashing say 1/4" just to give them a bit of distinction. What do you think??
I am definately not doing Block 13 just donīt like it at all, bit of design will have to go on there me thinks. |
