juju ... i can absolutely, 1000% guarantee that Tim was not referring to you when he used the phrase "bad juju". His reply to you was also definitely NOT A CRITICISM OF YOU. It's his way of saying that he assumes you're a good person and hopes you realized he hadn't meant you.
juju is a term related to magic and mystical spirits. similar to karma. if you follow this link, you'll see what i mean and understand exactly WHAT (not WHO) Tim was talking about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juju there is absolutely no cause for hurt feelings. |
JuJu I don't usually butt in people's business but.................... I just can't believe you took that personally, no one on this board is ugly to anyone else, least of all Tim! Sometimes his jokes may not be funny but he would never try to hurt someone's feelings! You may have hurt his by thinking he would. Please don't be offended but you really should not be offended by his remark.
|
Hi Juju,
After re-reading Tim's comments, I am POSITIVE that he was only taking a shot at his own skills when he said "bad juju". I looked at your webshots, and he was definitely NOT talking about YOUR skills!! And actually, he was wrong about HIS skills too! LOL sue |
maybe the non quilting jokes are not funny to all. Maybe they belong in chitchat
|
juju,
I've only been part of this group a few months, but I can tell you there is no one, no one here that has ever tried to make fun of, or hurt another one here. We've all picked on Tim, he picks back at us, but only those that are picking with him. That's friendship/quiltship. We must be able to take the fun and the joy of it by sharing our colloquailisms with one another. Our country, lands, have candy that's named juju. We have always since the beginning of time used the word juju as a term to describe the "karma" that surrounds something that's not going correctly. I know that all of us here have enough respect for one another not to be trying to hurt anyone. Give the guy a break, he's brave to foray into the midst of a lot of women, but we really are not the only quilters in the world, there are lots of men women and children quilting. Sharon/Mimisharon |
No offense, No criticism was given. Personal attacks have never stood ground on this board, nor will they in any future.
Whether it is ju-ju or mojo, karma or fate....it seems a little much to have caused such a state. Look at the blocks and you will see...there is nothing wrong there with you or with he. |
Juju, It is easy to take offense from comments made online, because you are not looking at the person to see their emotion. Here, we can not see each other, but it is a common understanding we do not mean any offense to each other by our comments or antics. As a matter of fact, some very good friendships have been forged thanks to this board, and Tim is one of those people we consider a friend and love to have around. He gives as well as he takes, but in this case, you took offense to something that was in no way referencing you. As a friend of his, and I am sure I am speaking for others here as well, I know Tim would never say anything to offend anyone here. He is always as helpful and considerate as can be, and never offensive or insulting. I am sorry if I am not saying what you want to hear, but as his friend, I feel I have to put in my 2 cents of defense for him. Please reread his post, as was mentioned before, and you will see he was not talking to or about you.
|
for juju......please put all of this behind you and be your usual happy self again... let us all get on with our quilting information... one thing I have learnt in life is that "some things are not what they seem".. and the best I have done for myself is to "just get on with it"....
|
I agree with everyone else. Tim is a great guy and would in no way attack someone he doesn't even know. I reread the comment and I thought he was referring to kharma, not a person. It wasn't capitalized anyway. I didn't even realize we had a person named JuJu until this started. Is that a nickname for Judy? We also have someone named Mojo. Good thing he didn't say 'bad mojo', but it would mean the same thing and still in no way refer to a person.
Please, JuJu. Honestly, nothing was meant by it. We are ALL friends here, even you, if you want to be. |

stick around. get to know us. let us get to know you. you'll feel like part of an extended family in about two shakes of a lamb's tail.
:P |
hoooraaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!! let's hear it for the peace makers.
now Juju don't just sit on the sidelines, jump in and let us hear from sometimes, share your tips and show us your work. that's how we get to know each other. |
JuJu,
I am so glad that you decided to give us a break. We are looking forward to getting to know you, especially since we now know you are a good person. So, you got the good juju. Let us hear more from you, and thanks for understanding. |
We have learned so much from you already...thanks for letting us know this. Please do not be shy about talking on here...we love to chat and share our things. Ability is not an issue as we are all still learning how to quilt, and each of us are developing our own style as we go along. We love to quilt and we love to be with quilters, that is why we are here. Welcome! :D

I finally found time to make this one. Tim, this block was WORK! [Think Maynard G. Crebbs! Or perhaps you're not old enough. Oh, well!] Anyway,
I made a 6 inch size block to go with my other 6 inch blocks. I'm calling this my "quilt of 48". When I get 48 blocks I'm making a quilt! (Oops! The bottom right block doesn't belong. It's a left over from our Aunt's quilt.) A challenge but it's done! AND it measures 6 1/2 inches right now. :o)) 48 blocks quilt to be - blocks are 6 inches (more or less!) |
where's the 4" version?
 |
not enough payoff for so much WORK!
|
I love it, it looks fab and 6", oh my. 4"? go on I dare you
|
Looks great! You are very talented--love your colors. :-)

It's been a month since I posted this and I wanna say... Y'all do good work. Those are some great looking interpritations of my block and I would be proud to use all of them in a quilt with that theme. As a matter of fact, p-mail me and I will send you my snail mail address and you can send them to me.
Thank you all for making July 15th BoTM somewhat a succcess. And everytime I see annmarie's avatar, I think... What a nice block!. *L* tim in san jose |
HI Guys
I know it has been awhile but I am still around. Tim and Oatrice this star is a wonder to behold, way beyond me. Quiltnurse |
Grandma24, the day you decide you CAN do it, is the day you will find you have the skills you need. It's like any other block. 90% of success is refusal to believe you can't learn how.
Tim ... you speak as though your block has come to an end. NOT SO!!! there are still folks out there who haven't seen it yet. some will find it and make it. others have it on their "someday" lists already. No deadlines or cutoff dates around here. They don't call this place the Quilters' Paradise for nuthin'. :P |
Great pattern Tim. I love your color choices. I'm so far behind on these blocks I'm going to have to do a sewing blitze to catch up! Every one is doing a fantabulous job. Can't wait to try this pattern. It is actually one I've been intending to try some version of. I see it so often in so many sizes and colors whenever I browse a quilting website. I've noticed how well the pattern lends itself to various interpretations. Is anyone combining all of these patterns into a single Quilt? I've gone and used so many different colors, I'm afraid joining them all together would be sooo! gaudy. So I'm finishing a couple into throw pillows and plan a couple lap quilts.

I just wanted to praise those who have made the block, give encouragement to those who have tried, and thank y'all for making the block a... a... , well success isn't quite the word, but at least it didn't fall like a lead balloon. tim |
