I had a real hard time with this block but I will try again soon. I have to learn to do this.

When I first started quilting my Aunt bought this patter for me Because I saw it and said it was beauitful. She told me that this is my goal to be able to create this quilt. She 77 and I hope to be able to do it before she gone.

Ceannastahl:
This is the prettiest double wedding ring quilt I've ever seen. When you make yours, PLEASE make sure you post a picture of it. Thanks for sharing.

It may be awhile still have a problem with pp won't try till I have pp down pretty good. Too pretty a quilt to mess up on. Its been waiting 1 1/2 years for me to get to it Atleast I have something to strive for and when I start having a problem and get to the point I 'd like to say I quit I look at this pic

Hi Ceanna:
I did something that is MUCH easier. I bought Omnigrid's Double Wedding Ring templates and instructions at Joann's for 50% off (coupon) about 5 months ago....you sew the colors wof then put the different templates on these strips of fabric and CUT out the rings. Works great. Have only made one block and made a potholder out of it for a wedding shower game gift...it was pretty much OK! Just a suggestion as I know you already have the instructions from your aunt but the templates and sewing the wof in all the colors really is easier.

Thanks Norah and Patrice, I have to say that although these blocks are a struggle for me, I am learning a lot. I know that the more I practice the better I will get.
Keep challenging us, it is good for all of us, especially newbies like me.
Thanks, Mary

Ceannastahr, Will you please tell us about that pattern? (The name of it, who the author is, etc) I have never seen that Wedding Ring pattern before; it is beautiful!

Norah 05-08-2007 10:06 AM

You're welcome, Mary. Believe me, we are all learning and being challenged. I'm glad you stuck with it. Ceannastahr, I agree, that is the prettiest double wedding band ever. It deserves to be made. I hope this exercise in paper piecing helps you towards that goal. I want to see your quilt when you are done. I love it already.

PSSSSST!!! C'mere. i'll tell you a secret.

turns out the May 1st star was a bit trickier than expected. seems to be discouraging a lot of first time paper piecers and irritating some who've done it before.

don't tell anybody, but i found a free pp pattern that you can use to practice paper piecing with small scraps. it doesn't have as many points, so it might be a better place to start.

SSSSHHHHHH!!!! don't tell Norah or Patrice. just sneak over to

http://www.paperpanache.com/challenges/06nosegay/06getpats.htm

go on tippy toes. we'll just keep it between us. unless you decide to post it.
