Love them!! I can't wait to start on mine.

that is really cool

Gorgeous!

They are all amazing! Yes I have to say it looks hard! But I'm willing to try. I can do paper piecing with no problems. Done oodles of them, but never a star as this. My advice to anyone wanting to try is to, get some old and ugly scraps, practice, practice, practice! Then before you know it you'll have an ugly duckling turned into a beautiful work of art.
(Hey, I can sling the bull but getting me to acutally ride the sucker is another!) Ha! Wish me luck! |
I finished a quarter of the block today (lol, I'm taking it slow). I'm a little worried about how mine is going to turn out - I'm doing all Black and White fabrics and I'm afraid it's going to look VERY busy. =/ Oh well...we'll see how it comes out.

Mine is a little too wild but all the points match well.

I have always hated removing the paper, and with the freezer paper method you don't have to. And, you don't even have to use freezer paper. You can just pin your pattern to the first piece of fabric and away you go. I think this is a beautiful, beautiful star.

Stunning and i cannot wait to get home to make mine. Thanks for creating this lovely star and your instructions.

i posted my block on the pattern site I was to excited to get in in. but I limited my points because I want to keep my stars to a limited number of fabrics i am going to check into some additonal colors that I plan to put into the sashing and outside border when finished it will add a teal color then i may redo this star with the additonal color.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Is someone going to do another slide show of all our stars? I can't remember who did that for us.

Here is my block--not very good but done. I am not sure about this paper piecing! lol When I first learned pp a neighbor taught me and it was like this: "Just cut 2 large pieces of fabric, put them on this side and sew on the lines on this side." It was slap it on and sew. I had a hard time getting the fabric lined up right. There are a couple of things I learned since coming on this board:
1. Some one had put up a link to how to pp and what the lady did on the video is copied off an extra copy of the pattern. She used this to cut each piece and she used them to cut out her fabric adding on 1/4 seam allowance. I thought boy that makes sense! PP got easier for me then. 2. Judy talked earlier on this thread about when sewing on the fabric fold back on the line and sew next to the fold. Oh I liked that every better!! I can't say they improved the looks of my pp but they made it easier. Here is my block such as it is. I cut pieces 1 and 3 as one piece to make the background in black. |
Really pretty - l like your colors and how the blocks look together!
