QNS, I love Grandma Holly and her story. Very pretty block with the fussy cut poinsettias-love it!

'Holly' was a true story about my DGAunt who did travel by herself to Idaho to be married and raise 13 children with her DH....they all had several children and they did well in Idaho...so there are over 95 descendants of them living there today. She was a brave soul to do that in that era. Her name was not Holly, but she was a beautiful young lady and very intelligent. I was privileged to meet some 36 cousins there back in 2000. Beautiful country. I guess my own DG and Aunlts traveled out to see her several times...I learned from them...did not know that fact before.

Grandmother has become Peppermint Patty....in my mind she always had a candy jar and apron pockets full of pepper mint candies. Enjoy. May it be a good day for you all.

A basket full of candy-- what a great idea! My grandmother always had peppermints in her purse for Sunday service at church. But it was the soft 'chalky' kind that were all pink. I think Kraft still makes them. I don't know what they are called exactly. She would wrap them in her hankie (less noise than the cellophane bag they were purchased in), and pass the hankie down the pew so all us kids could take one from it.

Great 'memory moment,' QNS, thanks!

I've missed it, too. With the holiday bustle and traveling and working on my guild's opportunity quilt and Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt, which is still in progress, I finally put together Grandma yesterday and I'll work on Grandmother today and post pictures. It sure felt good to be back on these blocks again.

Very pretty and so cheerful. Makes me wish for Spring!

I like the red fabric. I like the yellow fabric. I like the green-- oh! I like that block! :-)

I like both blocks, Katybob. They do look like the 1930s, and eye pleasing. Welcome back to the action; I missed you.

Thanks, everyone. Givio, praise from you on fabric selection is praise indeed! I like that block, too.
