Thanks, QuiltE. Did you not complete like 38 and counting upward or is my memory wrong?? Unfortunately, I did not photograph my set back when and now they are all together, so without sorting them all out, and doing a ton of extra work, cannot separate them now....later a finished view, yes, that is doable.
Weather is nice here, so doing other chores outside and hope to finish PC blocks at a later date. Having Chicken Pot Pie for lunch. |

So a LONG way from the big Six-Oh! :D BTW ... I'm sure everyone woudl be thrilled to see ALL of yours ... being that you are past this milestone, it'd be just the over-achiever that you are!!!! :) |
Over zealous cook that I am, I boiled a 6 lb chicken fryer on Sunday, de-boned it, and put a whole package of noodles in the broth, then added the chicken back to it....gave a third away to a neighbor lady, and have too much left, so a portion of it turned into a chicken pot pie for lunch by adding peas & carrots and mushroom soup and putting biscuits on top in a glass baking dish. Quite tasty...have a virtual taste....

EVen on my own I am that same over-zealous cook .... cook once, eat thrice as is or with renovations ... and stash surplus in the freezer ! |
What week was the 75 show and tell? I don't think we did that
Hummmm...chicken potpie. Haven't had a good homemade one in years. I love this virtual kitchen, QNSue. |

This is all I have done at the present time. I took time out to work on 2 gs's quilts. I have the green crazy quilt just about finished, and a blue log cabin quilt top done for other gs. Still 2 more gs to go.
Here is my first 60 blocks minus a couple I didn't really like. |
What a great set if blocks, grqnnyQ. You have been really busy. Do you have pictures of the quilts that you've done? Do the kids know what you're doing?
|
Yes I do have pictures of them, but I need to shrink them down so I can upload them. Thank you for your kind comments. Hopefully I can get caught up soon.
|
Very pretty, GrannyQ. I forgot how much I like your blues. Great job.
|
Fantastic! We all have some we don't like!
|
Oh Wow - that is going to be one beautiful quilt GrannyQ!
|
GrannyQ--very pretty quilt. I too would be interested in seeing your gs quilts too. :)

I will try to post some of the grandkids quilts. They all know I'm making them, some picked colors and some picked the patterns they wanted. It will probably be Christmas of 2013 before I get them all finished.
This is finished but I forgot to take a picture of the finished one. This is for our first grand-daughter. Next one is for first grand-son This one is king sized, mostly done after I had surgery on my right thumb and wrist for Mr Arthritis. Next one is second grandaughter Next one is for third grand-son Next is for fifth grandson I still need to take a better picture of the quilt for our second grand-son. The forth grandson is supposed to draw me some pictures of guitars for his quilt. He is really into music. So I thought thats what i would make him. The youngest will be 12 in Dec so i will problably making him a twin size for now and a queen size for later. I already have the material for theirs. I made 4 dresden plate quilts for our 2 sons and 2 daughters. One is completly hand quilted and the other 3 machine and hand quilted. |
Hope everyone enjoys looking at these quilts. It was a lot of work so I hope they will enjoy them when we give the quilts to them next year. Thanks for looking.
|
Beautiful quilts, Granny Q. Heirlooms to be sure. Priceless gifts given with LOVE. Lucky kids. Have you contacted CarrieM yet??
|
Awesome Quilts, grannyQ! I'm sure your grandchildren will cherish them. Wow, you will have a lot of quilting to do to finish these! I am in the process of quilting a queen size, and the decision on the borders has been a trial. The quilt will go in our motorhome, so I have a large final border, as I want to tuck it in on the bottom. With a wide border, I think I'll have to repeat the border I want, because if I enlarge it to fit the space, it will be too far spread apart. Does that make sense???
|
What great quilts, grannyQ. Thanks so much for sharing.
|
Ok, anyone looking at this week's posting started by Honchey this morning???
|
Beautiful quilts, GrannyQ. You are so good at getting strong contrast with few colors. Your color placement is perfect. Love all of them.
|
GrannyQ--thanks for taking the time to share all your quilts. Is the one you made for "5th gs" finished using QAYG? They are so pretty and lots of work!!
|
Carriem, That quilt was done QAYG, and also the first grandson was QAYG. Thank you everyone for the comments. You can put me down for the extra quilt blocks, so I quess that makes me lucky 13.
|
OMGoodness how did I not git this thread till taday????? Such wonderful blocks everyone. I believe that these are gonna be award winnin' quilts!!!!
|
Hooray GrannyQ joined the swap. Send Carrie a PM w/your email & she'll git ya all set up. :)

There's something fresh and calming about your PC blocks, GrannyQ!

Alas! The Big SIX-Oh achievement!!!
The bottom row is all of the non-PC blocks that I have made. Since the last grouping, I have made a few more darker blocks with less yellow, and with non-yellow against the sashings. Thanks for the feedback, and I look forward to any other input you can give as I do the next bunch of blocks. Honing in on the finish of 72 (plus a few extras to have to trade in, when I consider placement.) |
Oh QE these just take my breath away! I liked 'em separate, but tagether they sing!!!!
|
Ah now I see it and well worth the wait. Such a sunny quilt. The PP pony with the diagonal stripes would also be a fantastic center block.
|
Oh that is wonderful QuiltE. I think that Jewel Block looks lonely with its purple background. Maybe some more of that fabric or color if you have any???
I've gotta get my PC blocks out of their drawer and onto my display wall......but I have my bonus blocks up there and can't seem to stop staring at them! Ohhhhh, what a dilemma! lol |
OKSGlad ... I had it critiqued by a horse owner as being a poor looking horse! Wait til they see the cow I made. I don't think she'd classify Ex either! Yes, there's more farm animals to come. I still hope its not too sunny-bright of a quilt.
JeanieG ... oh I know that you just want more fusions in there!! ;) Will see where I can work it in, in the upcoming blocks. I see such great combos of fabric and then sometimes have to step back, in order to get my yellow in there. Sometimes a huge challenge! |
I think your variety of colors is good. If you have more farm animals to come maybe put those in the middle and build the other blocks around them?? Can't wait to see what else you have in store. :)

I remember last year with the FWS how I got to not being able to "see" the blocks to pick out what needed to be added or skipped ... I'm pretty much there now. I really appreciated then, and again now, the help of my fellow trail riders! |
Wow...really nice looking. One comment....a few of the block have dark backgrounds with only a hint if yellow and it detracts from the balance in my view. Useable but place them carefully. My eye was drawn to them right away.

While I only need 72 blocks for the size I want, I will be making extras. That way when I get to dealing with placement, I am not locked into just the 72 and can play til I feel the placement works before putting them all together. When I posted the first 45, someone noted that I had a problem as there was only one or two with the minimal-yellow and dark edges, so I worked on getting a few more into the mix. I think that will help provide a little "cloud-effect" amidst all the bright sun of this quilt, much like the muddy-blocks in the FWS ... and give the eye a place to rest. After all, IRL my eyes are photophobic! :D |
