Pretty Pretty Pretty, MiraB !!

I picked out my fabric tonight for Eastertide to be ready for tomorrow's sew-fest.
Now, with MIraB's comments ... Not.Looking.Forward.To.It.At.All!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looked ahead for the next few ... and thankfully, it looks like we have an easier time for a bit, once we get this week's done.
I hope! I pray!

Termi I complete sympathise with you, I too have a sore rear end :o

Now lets see if I can get the next two made without any dramas

The first one was really pretty but this one is awesome! The colors are better too! Ya did good!

I've got my blocks cut out & am ready ta sew 'em. I spent the afternoon w/my DM so no sewin' taday.

Oh come on Bev if I can do it so can you. I just have a few more grey hairs than I did yesterday:o

dublb 04-27-2012 10:03 PM

Oh Karen I keep looking at those tiny squares & cringeing. I did do some really neat FC for those radiating pieces. I think that it'll be ok. Besides I'm already 3/4 grey.:p:D

mirabelle 04-27-2012 11:28 PM

Bev I started going grey when I was 23, gee that was the same year I got married, wonder if there is a connection:p

gardnergal970 04-28-2012 04:54 AM

Mirabelle....now you have an orphan pony? It shouldn't have any trouble finding a home though since it is so pretty!

QuiltE...just ignore the tiny square in the frame of the corner square and you'll have a much sturdier piece of fabric to turn the corner with.

I've worked ahead a couple of weeks and while there are no sharp y seams, the only block that was peasy easy was the little sailboat. Laurie has chosen some very unusual blocks for this quilt and they are very challenging for me. I probably wouldn't keep at it if it weren't for this trailride. Thanks everyone for all of your encouragement and the hard work you do for your own blocks.

Anael 04-28-2012 05:05 AM

Mirabelle, this block is gorgeous! I love the fabrics!

Bev, you can do it!

Did anyone make the ice cream bowl already? I don't like that one at all, so I think I'm going to replace that one too. From the moment I saw that block I had no idea what to do with it. Besides the fact that to me it doesn't look like an ice cream bowl at all I can't get my head around colors for this one.

ha! Orphan Pony ... you had me confuzzled for a bit there,
GGal ... I now have two orphan ponies so far. Unlike JanRN, I don't have a Patches to make a quilt for!! And once I work on Eastertide, I might have another!

Thanks for the suggestion for altering ... I'm stubborn and at least will start with the plan of keeping with the original whole pattern! We'll see what transpires today.

I'm really liking the challenges .... that's how we all learn and get better! At least we don't have a full quilt to do of any of the *itchy blocks! :)

I see it as being one of those old fashioned ice cream dishes. And yes, I'll be doing it .... just because I'm stubborn1!!! :)

For FWS, I did a few extra blocks ... then when I came to placement, I was able to switch out, according to what I liked and didn't like for the best combo. Interestingly enough, the ones I originally had figured would leave the group ... they stayed and others were the rejected ones, that didn't look the best with their buddies!

I'm going to be making some extras again ... and keep watching for some that I "want" to make!

Yopu nailed Eastertide and the other block just great, Janie W. Nice corners. And love your colors you used.

QuiltE 04-28-2012 07:50 AM

ditto to QNSue's comments ... incredible work, JanieW!!!!!!

gardnergal970 04-28-2012 07:50 AM

JanieW...I love the stars sprinkled in the second block. They tie it together while the colors give great contrast. Eastertide is beautiful and very well done.

JeanieG 04-28-2012 09:48 AM

Ohhhh love the colors on Eastertide Janie! Superb work also on both blocks.

Well I finally finished this weeks blocks. Eastertide was easy, except for those corners. I PP this block. My hint for those still working on it is to take off the paper and draw the sewing lines on the back of the corner piece. I wanted those lines to follow! Thanks to all those with the hints, and tutorials, they really helped. Mirabelle and I used the same "donated" fabric for the cross! LOL

QuiltingNinaSue 04-28-2012 12:25 PM

Great job, Jeanie G. I did not notice the cross fabric until you spoke of it. Happy it worked out for you. Love your block construction and the colors used in each block.

oksewglad 04-28-2012 03:32 PM

Well QNS's inspirations have sure come to the forefront. mirabelle-your cross looks great with your fabrics and Jeanie's too. Great FC those ponies, too.
Janie your blues are icy hot!!
No I haven't made the ice cream bowl, Anael, but that's one I might like to have in mine just cuz it's ice cream. We'll see.

JanieW 04-28-2012 07:02 PM

thanks everyone for the compliments. It's been a rough week. My favourite uncle died yesterday. I know it's part of life, but it's still hard.

I'm not gonna do the Ice Cream bowl either. My red cream & blue just won't work with it. :( It looks challengin'. I can see just how I wanted ta do it. I also don't think I can work my fabrics with Fishing Boats, Village School House, Pansy, Sugar Bowl, Telephone......& others. I should have waited ta pick my fabrics till after I got my book.:p

Oh wow I love 'em. Your fabrics are fabulous. That turquoise is perfect for the cross, & your red pops in Elsie's Star! Nice smooth seams.

Sorry for you loss Janie. The best thing you can do is keep his memory alive.

QuiltE 04-28-2012 08:47 PM

JeanieG ... a great pair of blocks. Eastertide really picks up the spring and Easter spirit in it. Great FCing for Ella's Star ... the horses look like reflections of themselves.

JanieW ... so sorry about your loss. It's never easy, even when we accept that it;'s all part of life. And worse when it's someone we are close to and treasure. Take some time to remember all the special moments with your Uncle and hold them close forever.

Alas! I have these two done. Eastertide's corners were indeed a challenge ... not the best, but I'm stopping with this, as I'm not sure I'd get any better with it at this point. Maybe later I'll take another run at it?

So Eastertide represents the meaning of Easter.
And Ella's Star ... something for the kids at Easter!

QuiltE 04-28-2012 09:17 PM

Thanks DublB ... I just wish I could give you better pics!

JeanieG 04-28-2012 09:19 PM

Great looking blocks QuiltE, you even have the sashing on! WTG!

Anael 04-28-2012 11:16 PM

Janie, so sorry for your loss.

Anael 04-28-2012 11:18 PM

QE, your blocks are beautiful. I love the bunnies!
Jeanie, you did it! The block looks great! And great fuzzy cutting on the EF!
Janie, such gorgeous blocks and beautiful fabric!

QuiltingNinaSue 04-29-2012 03:26 AM

Great 'eye' candy, Janiew and QuiltE!. Love how you did a block for the kids, Quilte.

Sorry for your loss, JanieW. Collect some of his favorite shirts for a memory quilt...to remember him by.

carriem 04-29-2012 04:45 AM

Just catching up on posts and some more beautiful blocks have appeared. :)

gardnergal970 04-29-2012 05:00 AM

JeanieG...wow! Those horses show up beautifully. Great cutting and the PP works wonderfully for you on Eastertide.

JanRN...I'm sorry for your loss. Treasure his memories. I do hope your Mom is continuing to recover and you have some time to refresh yourself. Life never asks our permission for what will happen and you seem to be in a season if a lot of "happenings".

wendiq 04-29-2012 07:22 AM

JeanieG....Your blocks are done so well. Congrats on doing such a beautiful Eastertide and your fussy cut horses are great!

wendiq 04-29-2012 07:24 AM

JanieW. I am so sorry about your Uncle......loss is never easy, even when it's expected......:( I do like your blocks....such nice fabric and such perfect corners/points.....Thank God for quilting as we go through some rough times.....at least, for me, it helps keep me centered......

wendiq 04-29-2012 07:25 AM

QuiltE......two more winners....I love the playful Ella's Star......really cute...:)

oksewglad 04-29-2012 07:53 AM

QE--nice corners. By the time I got to my fourth one I was satisfied with the job, but not enough to redo the other 3!!
Cute, cute bunnies! The yellow in your blocks is really a hallmark and you are doing a great job of finding fabrics to complement it!

QuiltE 04-29-2012 09:31 AM

OKSGlad ... so many fabrics are in my stash to choose from and so many keep appearing in my mailbox too! I'm loving it ... and I am choosing from my mail buddies first and foremost!! The corners aren't so perfect, remember the pics aren't so good!

And I didn't notice until I put up the pic, that the purple rays coming out to the corners aren't lining up just right. Will need to see if I can adjust the sashing placement or not ... and if not, this might become a re-do for sure!
