Honchey ... ITA ... I often think of it as Quilters ADHD! :) I have an extreme chronic case of it! :)

Anael ... cute littel cowpokes there!

Jan ... perfect on the contrasts and theme of your blocks. Your sub, is like a sun/moon too.

Evie ... I'm waaaaaay behind, so you'll have company for the ride. Remember, I was considerably later starting my FWS, but still got it done!

Honchey ... Morning Star has been well worth the extra work! As DublB mentioned, you'll always remember the Olympics with this quilt. I remember well, the many hours of the Winter Olympics here in Canada while I worked on Miss Mazel!

GGal ... pretty pretty pretty!

Hadn't thought of it but sure could. Yes...the retreat is getting closer! Are you bringing something special to sew?

carriem 08-09-2012 05:07 AM

Yes, Crystal and I are both bringing our PC blocks to work on. We have been busy getting paper patterns and fabrics cut so all we have to do is sew, sew, sew at the retreat. :) I need to look at the shop-hop website and find hours for each of the shops...we are going to try to get all the ones around Indy before going to the retreat and then the rest on our way home Saturday. Crystal had something come up so we can't stay Saturday night.

Oh Lordy did I hate Morning Star. It took me forever to PP this blasted block!!!! Then I realized when it was all put together that the star in the center did not turn out because the fabrics both had busy prints in them. UGH not a favorite for me!

dublb 08-13-2012 08:29 PM

Your "busy" block will balance out in your quilt. I like it! Your mayflower is lovely too!

janRN 08-14-2012 04:37 AM

Great blocks, Jeanie. Morning Star was one of my favorites (I'm really anal, aren't I??). You are going to have a nice colorful quilt, lots of fun fabrics in there.

gardnergal970 08-14-2012 04:41 AM

Jeanie..I've done that too just because the prints looked okay so far as color I didn't think about the pattern of each together. I chalked mine up to learning. It's nice that you went ahead and finished it.

carriem 08-14-2012 06:45 AM

Jeanie--I can't wait to see your blocks all together...you have a great variety of fabrics. I can see the "stars", just have to look a minute. :)

oksewglad 08-17-2012 03:30 PM

Jeanie, you've just learned one of the basic tenets of fabric selection and working in miniature or with small pieces. Fabric design is altered more than you realize when working with small pieces. But still a very striking block.

JeanieG 08-17-2012 03:59 PM

Thanks for all the kind remarks everyone!!!

Being that I hit the big SIX-oh this weekend (PC blocks that is! :)) .... thought it was appropriate that block #59+#60 be posted with the 60th that the rest of you had made!

And now I'm off to post to the 1-60 thread!

Double Friendship Star and Be My Valentine!

Oh a wonderful pair; but the Valentine block really takes center stage on this one. A great block for the center of your quilt maybe?
OBTW no pic on the 45-60 thread. oops.

Thank you, OKSGlad!
No idea what will be centre! For the FWS I thought I knew and then when I got to placement, I was surprised what I did. Had been thinking of that Western Star you liked with the horse and buggy riding off into the sunset. Time will tell! Keep forgetting to count how many fabrics I have used, and decide on how to showcase all the different fabrics this time.

You had me stymied about the pic. Could be that you saw it while I was fiddling at correcting the pi? It kept coming up on its side but finally I got it upright! :)

dublb 02-18-2013 11:18 AM

That Valentine block is just stunnin' but I love the double friendship star the best. Great job on both o' 'em.

JeanieG 02-18-2013 11:57 AM

Oh how cute is that "Be My Valentine" block. Great work on that QuiltE!!! Beautiful "Double Friendship Star" too!

QuiltE 02-18-2013 02:35 PM

Thanks Ladies!
It took some head-scratching to figure out how to get the yellow into that ♥ block.
Would like to use that pattern for a seasonal wall hanging sometime.

carriem 02-18-2013 05:55 PM

QE--two more great blocks!! Keep it up!!!

gardnergal970 02-19-2013 06:02 AM

I hear the sounds of galloping ponies....oh no....it's QuiltE with a passel of new beautiful blocks. Great work.

Thanks Anael ... I think you'll recognize the Double Friendship Block. I made it first, then went onwards to the BBs!

Wow! Such amazing blocks with such great contrast. My Mayflower is more subtle. You should be able to make out some ghostly apparitions. More fabric that I designed and dyed.

JeanieG 05-10-2014 05:55 PM

Those ghosts are great work4me. You are moving right along with these blocks!

dublb 05-10-2014 06:48 PM

I can see 'em! Great fabric!

QuiltE 05-10-2014 07:36 PM

W4Me ... Perhaps those are Caspers? :) Looks like you have had a busy weekend .... I count three more done! Yeaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

Anael 05-11-2014 12:47 AM

Love your Casper block :) :)

Honchey 05-11-2014 04:27 AM

W4Me, Thanks so much for bringing a smile to my face walking down Memory Lane...I can't wait to see them all together..!!!

works4me 05-11-2014 05:23 AM

JeanieG - Thank you. I had fun with this fabric. It started out off-white.
dudlb - Thank you. I'm learning with each fabric that I dye. Ghosts are supposed to be apparitions, right? :D
QuiltE - Yes, 3 more complete. And that includes one with Y seams!
Anael - Thank you. I even have some fabric leftover this time as I was brave enough to dye a larger piece.
Honchey - Thanks. Glad I could make you smile. I'm looking forward to seeing it all together, too. I have ideas for putting it all together but they will likely change quite dramatically once all the fabrics are used.

QuiltE 05-11-2014 07:06 AM

W4Me ... Yea for you and your Y-seams! and 15 done! :)

oksewglad 05-12-2014 07:47 AM

At first roll of the pic I thought you were using the bright blue from earlier. I say you got a good match of colors from what I can tell. Aren't ghosts supposed to be "now you see them, now you don't" ? Waiting to see what your next ghostly block will be.

works4me 05-12-2014 08:11 AM

Thanks oksewglad. So far, there are three of my fabrics so I plan to combine them into one block. I might even make it before I've done all the two colour blocks. :)

Here is my Morning Star. Silly me, I pieced it. Can you say hard? I know I can. :)

Anael 06-01-2014 11:42 AM

Wow w4me, that's an accomplishment! Pieced ! ! ! Again great FC!

QuiltE 06-01-2014 01:18 PM

Well, you always say you like a challenge! ")
So you tackled it and did a great job ..... pieced plus FC.

While I am not a big skull fan, I sure do admire that fabric for all the colours in there.
Looks like you added another challenge to get each of those included in this block.

Well Done!!!
..... and I can;t wait to see it with it's partner from this thread, and of course with the whole darn troop!

JeanieG 06-01-2014 02:15 PM

Oooooh - what a challenge indeed! Great job!

dublb 06-01-2014 03:04 PM

Well this one just glows!

works4me 06-01-2014 03:36 PM

Thank you everyone. Looking at it several hours later, I am more pleased with it. All I could think of while piecing it was I'm not doing this again. Just realized I have two sets of teeth on the right hand side. Oh well. I even tried to get all the skull bits right side up in those dratted diamonds. :)

And by the way QuiltE, it might be hard to tell but I'm not a big skull fan either. :D

QuiltE 06-01-2014 03:43 PM

......... but when they fit the theme of the quilt, you gladly let those skulls them jump in! :D

Just watch those teeth don't bite! :)

oksewglad 06-01-2014 05:27 PM

Beautiful piecing... good for you!
