QE--you've been very busy again! Great blocks to show for it!!
|
You are so patient to paper piece so many animals! Bluebird means happiness, and may it bring much happiness to you. Love those chickens specially!! Spring is the time for young lambs, chickens, calves, etc., outside. Bf has found a person who attends all the small animal sale barn sales in the area, and has passed on her phone number if we still want goats and sheep and maybe a pig or two. Since GG has passed on her pattern to the group, I thought I'd try it...but after the third attempt to get things straight with one eye it is not straight but wonky...those cuts on the side each time has to line up perfectly. Last one 'looks' ok until you measure the cuts two are 3 1/2 and 2 are four inches on the fourth round. Will try one more time. Then I will sub when it is my turn.

You're on a roll QuiltE! And an expert in PP once finished :D
Again beautiful blocks, I love all your farm animals - even the misplaced dog ;) |
Oh the critters will be just fine. Looks like you're getting some yellow in each block! But I am bummed I was looking forward to seeing the cow block et al and all I get of the photo grouping is down to the diagonal stripes. As it was coming up I was thinking of how nice it repeats with the fine horse head you have.
|
Thanks Everyone! They were all FUN to do!
Has anyone else had problems seeing the blocks, other than OKSGlad? There were three photos with three blocks in each photo. QNSue .. are you speaking of GGal's Pineapple Pattern? What about PPing it? Anael ... I was giggling as I did the prissy dog! And it reminded me of the people who bought my farm. They had a Sheltie dog that was SO wrong for a dairy farm! OKSGlad ... As you'll have noted, I've been a little creative in some cases to get the yellow into the blocks! |
What will be, will be. Everyone on this trail knows that my blocks will be wonky and humble. Onward, into the mystery blocks, I go.:thumbup::thumbup: Charge!!!
|
LOL QNS, I had to laugh out loud reading your last post :D
|
OMG, QuiltE! You got carried away with animals! Well done and they will certainly make your quilt fit the Pony in the PC!

GrannyQ--you did a great job on these blocks. Hope your wrist gets to feeling better soon...I have the same problem sometimes.
|
A great job, GrannyQ. Nice to see you coming right along on your PC blocks.
|
Sometimes my wrists hurt also. I have both Tenosynovitis & Carpral Tunnel!. Sometimes I have ta just hunt & peck. Boy does that take long while. I love my wrist braces!
PS Your blocks are just wonderful! (Did I say that I love blue?) |
Sew beautifully pieced. I really like how you are open to various shades of blue as well as the differing colors of "cream". Have you counted how many different fabrics of each in your quilt?
|
So simple ... so beautiful, for both! :)
|
Thank you everyone. I haven't counted fabrics yet but I really think I will.

W4Me ... Oh yesssssssssss!!!!! I knew they would work well together.
Now I'm looking forward to seeing the Witch Hats with the burgundy. Hope you are having fun with these!!! :D:D |
Oh my! That's beautiful! Everything just matches up wonderfully!
|
Thank you. I like the contrast in this block. And so far I have done everything by rotary cutting and piecing. Wonder how long that will last.
|
Oh how fun to see all these blocks again! Thanks for posting them works4me!
|
Thanks for looking and for following along. :)
|
JeanieG ... that's what I like too ... taking the time to look at the earlier ones and see how each made them unique in their own way.
W4Me ... thanks for giving us these trips down Memory Lane! And yes, the contrast and fabric combos are bang on for this one! Of course, I knew they were going to be with that burgundy .... why do you think I was SO anxious??? Thank you for indulging me! |
Wow that one is just beautiful! I love that red colour!!
|
I had to give you your wish eventually QuiltE. :) I chose Pig's Tail because I wanted the burgundy/red all through the block.
Thanks Anael. I have now cleaned out the store of the burgundy. They only had another 1.5 yards so I bought it. Also cleaned out a couple of other stores of some Halloween batiks. :) And I have some witch boot fabric sitting in a beet juice bath today. Wonder what it will look like by the time I get home? |
...................did I just hear an evil witch's cackle coming from BC?
hhmmmm ... just thinking .... W4Me ... maybe that new crockpot of yours will truly prove itself as a witch's cauldron and brew up some fabrics for you! :) |

I knew there was a reason I had to have the black one. :D |
..............more evil witch cackles from the west!
|
I've been called worse, and recently, too.

:D :D So great having all this encouragement.
The beet juice fabric kind of worked. When I got home it was quite a nice brown and the resist was breaking down. So, a quick rinse and leave to dry overnight. Well, this morning I have brown fabric. It leached into the design so there are no witch's feet at all. Still, I now have a nice colour to start another batch with. I started with beet juice and now I'm making lemonade. :) |
Brown??? I thought it would be red?? Was tempted to try but not when it turns out brown :( You're not making lemonade with the beet juice are you?
|
Anael - raspberries come out brown, too.
Ick. I hate beets. Lemonade is my attempt at humour - when life hands you lemons (in this case a fabric that didn't turn out as expected) make lemonade (deal with it) :) |
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh :D :D :D I know the expression but didn't think of that when I read you making lemonade :D So now you have to find something that makes your fabric red :)
|
Kool-aid will do it. :)
|
Oops, raspberries come out pink. Cherry juice comes out brown.
|
Anael was probably hoping you were making Pink Lemonade! :D:D
W4Me ... Wonder, if you had been home and caught the brew sooner, if it would have stayed reddish? Brown isn't so bad though ... now for an over dye and some smooshing to take it from brown into pinkish and reds. :) I can tell what you will be doing this weekend again! |
