I wanted to rescue it from our rat terrier (hunting drive kind of dog), so I picked it up and put it in a bowl to let it dry. I didn't realize it was old enough to fly, and thought it had fell out of the nest. Silly me, I put the bowl in the house to keep it away from the dog. Now the chick is dry, and it's flying around in the house and I can't catch it. I'm trying to throw a towel over it, which is what I used to do when I had pet finches. It worked for them! But this little beastie is going to places that are not flat enough for this trick to work, and it keeps escaping my towel.

QNS, good tip! Thanks for the info.

Not to mention all the poop everywhere! We spotted our wayward baby bird. The dog found it out under some bushes. Wonder why it won't fly? It flutters around and seems healthy and alert, but it won't be safe on the ground. It has to fly. Hope it can fly soon.

Givio, did my baby bird picture look like a sparrow? They have a funny garish "smile" because there's a yellow edge all the way around their beak, which I'm sure they will grow into later.

givio when night falls it should put its head under its wing and then you can catch it...love the rescues and unfortunately the reality that nature is in charge most days.
Bev what a care giver you are...peace to you.

Back to working on my farm project..have a about 10 days to have it all done and ready...time crunch.

SBG, Mine was older than yours-- it didn't have the fluffy down anymore. It was consistently brown. Yours looks like the breast is lighter, and on my monitor, it looks more dark brownish-black. It doesn't look like a sparrow to me. I should have paid attention to the beak, then I'd have realized it was old enough to fly... I left the door to the backyard open, and somehow it got out when I wasn't watching. Now, instead of a bird in the house we have flies. :-(

QNS, I can identify with you. We have plenty of mosquitoes too besides the flies.

Givio, I am using the old trick of a freezer quart plastic bag half filled with water and two bright pennies in the bottom and hanging over my bedroom door and QR door to scare the flies away. Seems to work most of the time, so dh ask me to put one over his bedroom door too and his bathroom. Jury is still out if it works for him. Funny, 'cause he left the chicken compost uncovered by the door, encouraging flies to gather by the kitchen door, then opened it and encouraged their flight inside the kitchen by moving slow through the kitchen door!

Success in making Dove in the Window, block 29 by paper piecing it. Wow. It was not an easy block to do. No quilting today. DH cousin and wife are coming to play cards again. Made bread this morning. Love it when they come; we all have fun and enjoy the day. Have a good Day.

I got to sew today. I made 2 more 9Ps. I also laid out my ORL to see how many more blocks I needed. It has been my leader & ender project. I thought I might need a few more blocks but am happy to report that 23 is enough. :)

Your Ringo Lake is going to be so pretty, Bev!

Glad you got some sewing time in Bev! That ORL is coming right along. So glad mine is done, I'm anxious to get it sandwiched so I can start quilting it.

I am going to the Brownwood Quilting Guild meeting today! I need this kinda break! After the meeting we all will meet at the LQS & have a sew & share. http://storage.proboards.com/forum/i...ley/smiley.png I am excited. I did paint yesterday afternoon. I have it planned out where I will finish painting the utility room by Sat. http://storage.proboards.com/forum/i...ley/smiley.png
On the 10th DM took a tumble at church. Her foot has hurt ever since. Well DD made her an appointment to see the Dr yesterday. They have taken an X-ray as they think she has broken her foot. We will know today. I bet she will have to use a boot.

So sorry about your Mom's fall, Bev. Hope the foot heals quickly. And YAY for your day with the quilt guild. That really sounds like fun!

I'm counting the days til Friday... I'm taking a class called "The Secrets of Free Motion Quilting" on Friday and Saturday. I can always use more learning on FMQ, especially since now I have the sit down longarm.
