Watching the young orioles fight over the nectar feeder...they are so clumsy, too. One can't seem to find the opening and is searching all over the feeder ...they sing so lovely...meanwhile the hummers are dive bombing as they pass by...lol doesn't take much to entertain me some days..
Good to hear that rain has fallen, QNS...we have gotten adequate moisture th is summer..in fact the last field of hay has gotten washed twice now, which lowers feed quality...if it gets too wet it doesn't dry out and turns into a rotten mess..it's a real bummer when you have to go in and chop it back onto the ground. If you leave it in rows (swathes) it will smother the hay underneath and you don't get regrowth. Have the 5th row sewn and the first 4 sewn together...yeah 2 more to go...also have the narrow brown border pieced...waiting on the outer border to see how wide I can go with what I have...this is a stash quilt...the sashing is also the backing, bought when Wal-Mart had decent fabrics on flat folds years ago...I know I moved it from the old house 9 years ago...so time to use it up. Better move..work at noon, so better get something done beforehand. |
Oksewglad, that is so pretty.

We are back in Midland & the air conditioner is out. Called the repairman. I sure hopes he comes soon. It is supposed to get up to 105* today. It is only 95* right now. LOL
|
Dublb, I hope he comes quickly for your sake.
OK, another wonderful project you are doing on top of everything else you do so well. |
hot, ..hot, hot here in longwood florida, I can't stand to go outside..staying in and painting..lovely quilt Ohsew and lots of work....

The air conditioner guy came late this afternoon. It did get up to 108* today but I think the guy got here before it got over 104*. We were afraid that it was gonna have to be replaced but it only cost $200. I sure didn't want to replace it. It is working hard & the temps in the house have dropped to about 80* right now.

Thanks for the kind words everyone..yes Rosy, those 2" pieces require plenty of time. The second border is a pieced one in the book, but didn't want to take any more time so opted out.
Whew, relief to the Texans, dublb...we do become conditioned to our cooler environs, don't we? Not sure I'd manage well in +100*... going to get that top done so I can mooove onto other things.... |
Hi Everybody... this is a cross-post that I also shared with another group I'm in. (Some of them are ROWING too):
Just got back from Row by Rowing to Memphis. I visited the shops in Oxford MS, Senatobia MS, Sew Memphis and Bumbletees in Germantown TN. I bought some kits and at others I just got patterns. I have these, if anyone wants to use them after me or trade patterns from your area. PM me if you do. The last photo is just some fun fabric I bought at the shops. The small black and white pic is of Graceland, Elvis' home! You use the special Elvis fabric beside it in the row. I got extra Elvis fabric in case friends wanted some. http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...594-small-.jpg Bumbletees kit... easy to do with your own assortment of fabrics http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...593-small-.jpg http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...596-small-.jpg Glad everyone's got cool air to enjoy in their homes now... :o |
Love Quilts or bust and the scrappy crazy....love all the licenses! and the fabric is great! What a haul you made on good stuff.
|
Sew Memphis must have ordered their plates late because they didn't have them yet, but their row theme is Elvis. One of their plates was "Spools Rush In", LOL. I ordered it.
