How about this for lunch? http://www.quiltingboard.com/recipes...k-t202928.html. The recipe is from QuiltE. Just finished canning two big batches of salsa yesterday and lots of onions left. Might make some cheesy biscuits (ala Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits) to go with it. Nothing like a tummy warming lunch to prepare for the fabric selection.
So easy to make, a basic white sauce with some extra butter, and salt and pepper to taste, throw in the cooked onions. Yum. |
Here Are My Fabrics

Well, Just raided the stash and I am back on board. Will try to take some better close-up pics later. It is a dank wet day here in Western WA, not good for taking pictures.
First from the left will be B, it is flat fold fabric I have had for years The light next to it will be A, it is the back of a cotton duvet cover, a damask 100% cotton, a Goodwill purchase Dark pink leafy print will be C, another Goodwill purchase Lighter pink solid will be D, also have had this for years Darker Pink print will be E, Goodwill remnant Darkest will be F, this one will be interesting as it is a McKenna Ryan ombre fabric, Silent Inspirations. The color graduates from dark charcoal to an almost an ecru color. I have yardage for the 3/4 yard I need. I have been wanting to use the B fabric for years. I have enough of it to use as the backing also. |
I think I have the fabrics I need and will lurck around until I am able to move to the sewing machine. Hip surgery on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP JUDY!!! Help Help. I told you 6 fabrics would be too much for me. Here are two choices. #1, #2, or try again?

I raided the stash and hope there's enough contrast with these. Was wanting to use some Christmas fabrics and found some to go with. feel free to critique. I have a whole room of more.

Thank you, Paintmejudy, for doing this mystery quilt. I rode along (and sewed along) with the second one -- thoroughly enjoyed it -- top is finished; I keep going back and forth on hand quilting (I've never done), quilting on DSM (only done two) or sending it out (what I usually do). I'm anxious to go shop my stash for fabrics to make this one.

Poker Diva,
I like your number two pick but with the green print you have at the bottom of your number one pick if that's any help. |
Poker, I favor the bottom collection. In fact, I love the bottom collection, it will have nice punch factor. My choice would be to do the black and red as E and F, and maybe pair the white with the white print, but I also think the green laying across the bottom of #1 would be really nice with the white, too. - I know that next week you will know exactly what to do once you read that clue.
Chefwarner - LOVE your xmas fabrics!!!!! Cadqueen - you have until next Saturday to decide on fabric, I won't post anything until then. You're welcome, Teacher. |
Judy the E and F in the bottom pic are only 1 yard so I can't put them anywhere in the center. The green at the bottom of the top pic has plenty of fabric and I can put that anywhere. Clevermom suggested using that as my F fabric in the bottom set which I layed out and she may be right.
|
I still haven't finished the last mystery quilt (blush) - having a hard time deciding if I want to make it a lap quilt or the center of a larger quilt. But I will think about that while doing this mystery quilt! I will have to go shopping (yeah!) because I don't have large enough pieces of 6 coordinating fabrics. Do I have to clean up the mess I made in my sewing room trying to find coordinating fabric before I go shopping??? Anyone up for a trip to the LQS?
Thanks, Judy for another fun project! |
I'm in and off to raid my stash. Need to make this for my sister, she keeps saying she almost wore the last one out, she has had it for 20 years LOL I think she deserves a new one. Her only request was to keep it on the dark side so it will look cleaner longer she has 5 animals and a hubby.
Forgot to say I am bringing Cream Cheese Apple Crisp Squares |
Sounds like a plan, Florence.

Well, the quilt show is over, thank God! Now I can jump on this train without having to run out to the show! I'll go tackle my stash in the morning to see what I can find, but me thinketh that I'm going to have to go shopping! But that's on my list for Monday anyway! Whoppie! Thanks Judy! I'm looking forward to this one, the last one was a blast! OH! By the way, that quilt took Honorable Mention at the quilt show this weekend! In Judge's comments she wrote "interesting choices of color" but in "color & fabric" she wrote "would a darker inner border have given it more pop?" Guess I should have entered Sulabug's! Bet we would have ribboned with it!

Hope we make a stop at Fabric Depot in Portland, OR

How about 'Nancy's' in Las Vegas or 'Monica's' in Palm Springs or there is always 'Cotton & Choclate' in Thousand Oaks or the "Cotton Ball" in Morro Bay. |
Feed back please. this is what I am thinking of this color and this one and this one and this one and thinking of cream tone on tone and gray as E -F.
I am not one to do monochromatic colors. I do what looks good to me |
Hello everyone just made the train I've read all the posts and love the colour combos. I don't have quite enough fabric so will have to go shopping (what a shame :D) I wont bother counting calories for this trip I'm going to indulge yum!
|
I won't be home to search my stash until thursday. I might just go shopping for fabric since my LQS is closing and she has 40% off everything this month. Next month 50% and then closing 12/1. So sad. It has been my 2nd home.
There are some very lovely combinations so far. Can't wait to see the rest. I will be sharing the chocolate candy cookies I picked up at Sam's. Oh my. Did they ever get that chocolate dough just right. |
Nelco, you choose whatever you like. I only did monochromatic because I had it in my stash,
|
Judy would this work as a scrappy?

Can I use brights?
How about many different colors? I have lots of fat quarters. |
When do you post cutting insturctions?
To bad we can't just have a folder for the instructions. I laugh because last time I spent more time reading than sewing. |
Sounds like fun I would love to join in on this, will grt fabric today
|
I am off to check my stash. I have a lot of smaller cuts, so will really have to do some searching for these. Can't wait to get started. I made a Holiday Truffle with my Big Soft Ginger Cookies. Left some in the caboose for all of you.
|
OK, I am following this wondrous train's journey from the sidelines, but I will there waving at the stations as you pass. Got too much on my plate right now, but will record every move the train makes and file away for a future trip revisit. Thanks so much!
|
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We are finally getting some relief from the heat, fir a while, down to 65 right now, and only into the 80s during the day. Been a looooooong hot summer here!
|
SheriR - no, sorry, this really wouldn't work as scrappy, and you know how much I love scrappy.
KarenR - some brights would be fine with something else that has contrast as I explained about your A-B colors and C-D colors, and two more fabrics with contrast. And cutting starts on Saturday the 20th. |
Still deciding on what colors to use. Oh, I have to go to the fabric stores. Hope something jumps out at me. I am bringing Apple Pie Cider on the train. I will make two choices--one with a punch of alcohol and one with out. Delicious and will keep us warm.

Greetings! I had printed the first instructions and was downstairs looking in stash when the guests started arriving for the pot luck yesterday. Didn't they know that I had other things on my mind. But it went wonderful - lots of comfort food for our cooler weather here.
I raided the stash, and like many of you, lots of the fabric isn't big enough. BUT, I found a number of black/cream/gray and then F will be a darker red. Will get a photo as soon as choose an E ( I have 3 that are calling me right now). Have apples on the tree to pick, so the Cream Cheese Apple Crisp Bars sound wonderful. Will make them and give take them to the church quilting this week. Oh a cup of warm apple cider sounds wonderful also. Well, off to kitchen to "raid" the refrigerator. |

Okay..I've gone through my stash looking for my meager collection of Christmas fabrics. I've been wanting to make a Christmas quilt, but couldn't decide on a pattern. I'm hoping this one will do. I've selected some Christmas and some solids that are the right colors for the season. Here's my lineup, A, B, C, D on the top, E & F on the bottom.

ok I went through my small stash and I do not have anything large enough. I do have this peach and turquois but is it to big of a print.??????? I will have to wait until NOV to have the $$$$ to go and buy material for this. But then I will see everyone else's choices and I might borrow their ideas. LOL. Let me know about this material.
