A treat for our family has always been Olle ballens. Grandma made them for special occasions.

Both my Grandma's made them one said it was a Dutch treat the other a Swedish treat. Only difference I can tell is that one had apple pieces besides the raisons in them. I just loved them.

Are they similar toebelskiver? If they are I will gladly have some!!! Yum.

Have not decided on which is A and which is B. From my stash and I have lots of scraps to go with.

Karen, I've had a dutch baby before (delicious) but never a Olle ballen, I'm looking forward to the treat. I too come from a dutch heritage.

I think "wave watcher" should post the picture of Her sewing room with the picture window where waves are crashing against the rocks and 'almost' splashing the window......and the temperture gage was what? 78 degrees, with very gentle ocean breeze.

tlambing, there is no dieter's car, but going on a fast train strips all the calories and fat grams right out of your body. Whoosh!

All those goodies being talked about is making me hungry. They sound delish.

Mishi, I'm partial to the first but either one would be wonderful.

Ok Dedemac, I love retro.

Mishi - I love both, but I am really drawn to the brown.

Maybe go to the second hand store and get some of those really cheap shirts that are 100% cotton. Someone said their store sells items by the bag for little or nothing. Or ask if they have some old shirts that are stained (usually the back is still good.) Just an idea. I read somewhere how much you can get out of a XXL shirt- but can't remember where.

it does not have to be charms, the way I read it, it can be any leftover scraps that are at least the size of charms

You'll need leftovers at least 4-1/2", I used charms as an example of size. But don't bother to cut into 4-1/2" squares. Tomorrow all will be revealed!

hmmm... I *thought* I clicked on something so I would always get postings to this thread, but, see I've missed a LOT of chatter... Can anyone tell me what to do for getting updated postings?
