I got my book today. This might be challenging for me, but I'm up for it. I don't get the whole "gluing" yet, but I'm sure it'll all click I'll have to read it again slower! :)

I was a little confused as well. I did the foundation blocks already to try to figure it out. Im so new at it I think Im just not getting the terminology yet.

My son just asked me what I would like for Christmas and I told him about the book and this wonderful quilting board I found...guess who is getting a bom pieced appliqued quilt next Christmas ;)

Video of Penny demonstrating her technique. This was made before our book was printed. When she refers to the new book in the spring, that is the one we are using.

This link takes you to another video where Penny demos our book. Keep in mind that a lot of what makes her finished block look intricate is that she is using very busy print fabric. They wouldn't look nearly so difficult if they were done in solid colors.

I think if you watch the videos, then read the first pages of the book, then watch the videos again, you will see how it is working.

January is going to be FUN !

The fabric that I ordered for this project just came in and I love it! I have a feeling that my blocks are going to look way different than anything pictured in the book... I am missing one color in this photo - I also have a light butter-yellow color to balance out the values a little more and tone it down some... I'm getting excited about this project! I am taking an overnight trip at the end of the week, and since I can't quilt on the plane I'm going to get better acquainted with the book.

Those are gorgeous Batiks!! I also think the yellow will blend nicely.

I've been looking at Batiks also. Haven't seen anything that strikes me yet...........but I know I will. ;-)

I have not received my book yet. Would someone be kind enough to tell me how many fabrics are required and the yardages required.

Hi Maggie Rose - I haven't read through the entire introduction yet, but I have looked through the pictures - the blocks all look very different depending on the pattern of your fabric. It may make sense to wait to see the book before you get your fabric. I'm doing batiks, but I'll be happy with a simpler looking quilt.

Happy fabric shopping!
