Wk. 27 - K3 Churn Dash & N10 Diamond Friendship; Wk. 28 - E2 Corn & Beans & F10 Aunt Sukey's CHoice. That makes 56 blocks so far - many to go....
When I finish the quilt top on the design board I will take a pic of all of the blocks so far, but they are covered up at the moment. |
They look great AuntJo!!

Well, I think all my blocks are finished with a few extra and some substitutions. Here's my next step. I'm doing quilt as you go, and using my embroidery machine for quilting. Pros: it's fun to watch the machine; Cons: there may end up being lots of handwork on the back, and kind of losing the design of each unique block. What do you think?
|
Aunt Jo, your blocks are beautiful ! ! !
Sue z q, using your embroidery machine for the quilting is a great idea! Yes, lots of hand sewing on the back but I'm not sure you're losing the designs. Why? They're still visible on the back. Did you spray baste the blocks? |
Yes I am spray basting. I quit using stabilizer after a few. Seems ok. And I agree AuntJo makes very pretty blocks!
|
Sue z q,
Gorgeous blocks. Your quilt is going to be awesome. |
It is going to be stunning, Sue! Love it!
|
Beautiful blocks and quilting ladies! Nice to see some more progress on them. My tops are patiently waiting their time :D

|
Looking good auntjo! I did sandwich one of my partial tops yesterday...slow and steady....:p
|
Very nice, Aunt Jo!
|
It is very quiet here - what is everyone up to ?
I have just 8 more blocks to make - can't believe I am nearly there ! Here is a link to my design wall. http://www.amiga.talktalk.net/index.html |
Wow Dotty! You are doing great! I am about half way now- have considered just doing a throw, but I really want to be able to say I did it all. Looking forward to the quilting and thinking about a quilt as you go as I put it together. Has anyone else assembled like that?
|
Oh Dotty, your blocks are gorgeous. It's going to be a stunning quilt!!!
I know, I didn't post any new assignments, I will very soon. I kind of forgot about this quilt. There doesn't seem to be much interest in finishing :rolleyes: (except a few ;) ) |

WOW Thimblebug, that's gorgeous!!! I love the colours of your sashings, great choice :)
|
Oh, Thimblebug, how beautiful:thumbup: I keep thing about doing more blocks, but never get around to it. A new year an old project?

Finished my blocks and used the embroidery machine to quilt them. Now I'm sewing rows together. Eventually I'll have a quilt I think.
|
sue z q, your blocks are lovely and great job at the quilting too!

Sue Z Q-oh so fantistic blocks and quilting!
This past week-end during the Quilting Board's Virtual Quilt Retreat, I made two blocks as a break from the 3 gifts I was working on. For some reason I can not upload the 2nd block which was B3. A9 Long time no work on Sylvia. But she calls my name. |
Like. Are you doing all reds and blues?
|
Oh, that is soooo pretty. Mine is coming along. It has only been almost 2 years. (LOL) Yours is going to be stunning!

Beautiful Sue z q !!!! I always wanted to try quilting with my embroidery machine but never got the guts to do it. Maybe I should! I love it!!
Giquilt, lovely block. I like your fabric choices. I'm happy to see some of you are still working on the Sylvia quilt! I know I've been a bad hostess, not posting any more assignments. |
You have been a great hostess! Like a lot of us, I have fallen behind. I have SEW many unfinished projects, have been slowly finishing them up. I did start a new quilt yesterday. I needed a new start! I started my last new project in early July. I will get back to Sylvia!
|
Great to see these new blocks everyone! I'm always happy to see an email letting me know there's been an update here.
|
Well, let's make a new start in January. I'll post the rest of the blocks, maybe every week instead of once a month?
|
That's a great idea Anael! I'm in. Will need the motivation you provide. Thanks.
|
Anael, we need to finish our other assignments 1st.
|
Giquilt, I think posting new assignments might inspire people to go ahead and try to finish. There's no use in keeping it on the back burner, at least IMHO. There might even be a few who are all caught up :)
Maybe it's easier if 2 blocks a week are posted instead of 8 each 4 weeks. |
I'm happy to check in on everyone's progress.... I have all the blocks completed that I am doing.... one completed quilt.... and one completed flimsy..... Love to see pictures of everyone's projects....

Anael please post as you see fit. Any motivation would be appreciated!!! |
:D that's ok Giquilt :D I will start Januari 3rd with the assignments and post new ones every Sunday. That way it's easier to keep track - I hope.

B5 and B6 respectfully. I am not sure where my list is so are doing some in order until I find it. Trying to do a few blocks between "have to" projects.
Funny story about block B5. I recently did some Hexies for another quilt. So when I looked at this block and it's template thought it was the same size as my Hexies from previous quilt. Wrong! (It was the size with seam allowance included.) When completed, too big for background. After two days I redid the block with correct size Hexies, but to my dismay I had turned one of the flower stems wrong. Redo #2. Started sewing to BG which I pre-cut, it was too small 7" one way by 6 1/4 another. Soooo, redo #3. Persisted, now finished and trimed. |
