Try, try again, to post Syvlia blocks completed today:Onward to complete more, Yankee puzzle stands out.
|
Just finished star of orient...oh my. If it could go wrong it did. Took me hours to figure out what I was doing. Then had to scrap it and do the templates again. I had sewed on the wrong side of paper piecing so everything was backwards when I went to put it together. Looks good now that it's finally done!
|
Crqltr, did it really matter on which side of the paper you were sewing? I do that very often.
QNS, that yankee puzzle really stands out! I love the background fabric of the other 2 blocks. That Kansas Trouble block is a nasty one, I had to toss the first one I made because nothing matched :( |
I did change the KT on the outer row, so it faces the correct way. Tried Contrary wife yesterday and scrapped it. Later.

I made two Contrary wives and one mosaic my way. and I have corrected KT and also did the Bow tie:I will wait to post the others at the correct times for the month. Always had a story for each of the blocks in FWSQ and PC, and Sylvia is not any different. The red hearts and green fabric represents Valentine's Day, of no matter how Contrary of a Wife he had, he always loved her and thought she was very sweet and lovely in his eyes. Second CW is the outstanding 'rose' in his life. Mosaic was representing the coffee table wedding present from her Mother. Smiling Bow tie is what Grandfather wore to the Wedding, and all the Best Men honored him by wearing one also.

Caught up..ready for the next batch! I am trying to stay ahead because I know when I go back to work I will fall way behind! Will try to post blocks I have done later.
|
QNS, lovely blocks. It's so worth it to follow the thread to see everyone's work. Then you go and take it up a notch and share with us your side notes. Thank you! G
|
I am late to this thread but will have to watch it more closely. It's fun to see all the variety of fabrics and special to read QNS's reasons why she chose the fabrics. It sure adds interest to the blocks.
Lovely blocks everyone. I love your fabrics, mirabelle. |
QuiltingNinaSue- love your stories for the blocks, keep them coming.....
All the blocks are looking great. Is it not fun to see them pop up? I always say "have that fabric, love that fabric, gotta find that fabric"! |
QNS, great looking blocks and great stories too :)
|
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I appreciate them very much. May the stories bring a smile to your face, and maybe even some laughter into your life.:o I do love all the posted blocks; more eye candy would be great.
|
JanieW I have Carriem to thank for my main fabric, she posted a pic of it with a selection of other fabrics for a project and I fell in love with it and had to have it:D
|
I tried to post pictures of my blocks so far but the site wouldn't let me log in with my computer. I can with my I pad but it's a old one so I can't do pictures. Oh well...
|
I finally got some pictures to post but I couldn't add them here so I started a new thread called Sylvia's bridal sampler. If a moderator can move them to this thread it would be great.
|
Yeah!
I got January finished!

Great job, Karen! Must be all that snow on the ground that encourages all the quilting! I like all of your blocks, some I will never do or post, and I admire your great job on them.

I made the blocks for Sylvia's Bridal Sampler last year but have yet to completely put the top together. Life just gets in the way! LOL This quilt is great for learning new techniques. Stretched me! My advise would be to take your book to Office Depot or maybe Staples and have them put the spiral binding on it. Very inexpensive to do and such a big help. The book will then lay flat and is much easier to use.
|
Karen, great blocks and well done!
Laurafet, welcome! You can make as many as you want to, don't have to keep up with the schedule. It's all up to you. But we love to see pictures :) |
I love looking at everyone's blocks..the different color combos are amazing! Hopefully I will soon figure out how to post mine in this thread! I have a new computer with windows 8 ...not having fun with it! I can get to the part where you pick URL or browse but it won't open the browse..I'll figure it out some day, or find a kid to show me how! In the mean time keep the pictures coming!
|
Crqltr, you can send me your pictures and I will post them for you. PM me if you want me to do that.

First Feb week
1 Attachment(s)
Another week! I need to learn to cut my pieces for paper piecing a bit more generously. I think as long as I leave the paper on until the sashing is on it will be ok. Did anyone else reverse applique the posies around the corner? Needle turn was way too bulky for such small pieces. Way too small for machine applique. I have had the book(and had it spiral bound) for several years. I'm glad to have the inspiration to get started. Thank you all!
|
crqltr, I'll just pop the link to your pictures in here until a moderator gets to merge them in. http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t240552.html

More beautiful blocks, great work:thumbup:
