Default Rest and Refreshing BOW Civil War Sampler Quilt

Several board members are doing the Rest and Refreshing free BOW Sampler. This is a place where we can discuss each week's block and post our pics to encourage each other as we make this sampler.

This is the first week and the free block patterns will be released every Monday. They are only free for a week, so be sure to go and get your patterns on Mondays or early in each week.

This is a great sampler of 10" blocks, to use up your Civil War fabric stash.

An email list is available to have a reminder each week to download the new block, but you don't have to sign up in order to go to the site and download the block pattern each week.

I went to the website and signed up but couldn't find the first block. Has it been released?

Yes it came out on Monday.

Well, it looks like I was wrong. It seems you do have to register to get the links to the patterns. I thought they were on the site but I couldn't find them either.

Barb, if you just signed up, I'd give it a day or so for them to send you the link. If you don't have it by Saturday I'd contact them and ask for it to be sent. It won't be free anymore after Sunday night at 11:59pm.

I think what is meant is that you are not required to sign up, but you can do so if you desire. When you get the email, then you download the free pattern. I hope to see pictures from others who are doing the blocks! If you have done a Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, or other 'quilt along' types of projects, then you will know how encouraging it is to work on a project together. I did lots of Farmer's Wife Sampler blocks on this forum. I'm looking forward to doing this sampler. :-)

I'm not sure I can use the same colors as in the pattern every time, but I have enough fabric for the blocks to be in the Civil War type theme. For the other elements of the quilt top, I'll just see what I have that will blend in.

This is the first time I'm trying to do a block of the week (or month) thing! I'm trying to stay shopping in my stash.
