Default Rhonda's Second Sampler Quilt Along - Week 10 - Wanda

This week we are again using my new block- Triple Strip Block

So as usual it uses my cut down method which I think makes your blocks more accurate and you have better control of the size as you go.
Just make sure to measure each time you complete a step.
It will save a lot of frustration when you are done.

Here are the steps to the new Triple Strip Blocks

Rhonda's New Shortcut Block- Triple Strip Block

To make this quilt block into a 12 1/2" unfinished size you will need a 2 1/2" template.

You can take a look at the layout picture to see what Blocks you need and where to put the colors. If you change the color arrangement you will get a differant look from mine.

So try it out and see what you can make with this design! Have fun!

If you need any help don't hesitate to ask. I'll be more than happy to help.

If you need templates let me know. I will need your postal address and PLEASE send it by pm or email not on the open board. The templates are FREE no fees or postage needed.

This quilt block I called Wanda - the points or arms that come out of the center made me think of fish fins. so I was thinking -- the movie A Fish Called Wanda LOL Since Wanda is an old fashioned name it works! LOL

This is definately one of my favorites!

You will need to make 3 differant Triple Blocks and make sure you pay attention that you will need to make mirror image blocks for some of them. The ones that I referred to as fish fins are mirror image blocks. That just means you need to pay attention to the colors that are reversed from one side to the other.

I thought it might help if you could see the various color combos and blocks. If you follow the block directions you will see they are easy to make. The link is posted above.

Hope you enjoy this quilt block!!!

As always if there are any questions don't hesitate to ask! I'll be happy to help! Rhonda

I'm going to do this one in a 12 1/2". That middle looks just too little for a 6 1/2" !!! At least at the moment, and this and next week may have to wait until the week after Christmas. I designed a block today, so proud of myself. I even did it with the layout like you do. It's for our out-going President of the Quilt Guild here in town. And I'm calling it Amy's heart. Whose heart is as big as the whole outdoors. I'll need to make a label, and write a poem to go with it.

You are going to post a picture of your design aren't you? I would love to see it.

thank you Heather. I really liked this one. I start with a bunch of blocks and then turn them and play with color and highlight differant areas until I find one I like. This one is one of the better ones I've done. Some are good and some are just ok but this one stands out for me. When I am playing with the options I sometimes get one that just jumps out and you say ok this is the one that is the best and this is the one I am going to post.
