oh yeah I tried the curved seam. WHAT A JOKE! ok I need a lesson in person not a guess how its done. I am rarely good at trying new things like that without help. I will applique more of a curve on the sand I think just not sure how yet lol. gotta get those awful chairs sewn onto it first. its just supposed to be an interpretation but sure wish I had that book BEFORE I got started lol. hoping crossing fingers applique will do the trick .. now to learn how to applique grin..

This is as far as I got so far. I think I need about 3 more rows of beach sigh. I guess almost done is almost done! then I can start applique so this weekend will finish up beach I sure hope it doesn't need more! running out of yellows for sand! there are three colors in the sand but it shows up as almost one! how did that happen. argh. wish me luck!
I don't see why you need more sand.

I think you could add the idea of more "curves" w quilting and thread color choice. As well as the sun rise color reflections in your water.

Elisabrat - I think you have enough sand and now need to gussy it up with the beach stuff - just my opinion. You're doing great. I'm FMQing mine and it is going slow also. A lot to do and I am using invisible thread on some of it and I don't like working with that stuff - it is called invisible for a reason but it's coming along. We have some dreary rainy days and I just had my first cataract surgery; although, that doesn't really slow me down much. I think I will make good progress this week. Hang in there.

Linda - the sizes and placement of appliques will dictate on how large your beach should be. I can't wait to see your chairs. I have to add grass to my beach - just free motion - and that is scaring me, not ready for applique!
