Theme and variation, theme and variation… Ceannastahr, this bugged me for quite a while till I figured it out. I’ve seen several patterns called “Stepping Stones” the one I’ve linked here is the one I recalled vaguely when looking at your “Blackford’s Beauty”. The only difference is the two blocks instead of the log, creating the checkerboard. I guess I’ll give it a shot sometime in the future since I liked the BB so much. My brain works overtime I fear:

Ok...here's my very first block ever. What I learned...points are HARD!! LOL Not a very good pic...had to take a still with my web cam. I had to lay it across the back of my computer chair so the cam would reach, so it looks a lot more puckered than it actually is.

Your very first block ever?!?!?!! I'm glad you like challenges! This was a challenge for me and it wasn't my very first block. Points are hard but these were rediculous at times!! You did real good! Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
