Sylvia Bridal Sampler BOW

Donna.....you rock on Y-seams. The bow tie looks great!!
Macybaby.....I don't use invisible thread though that is certainly an option. I use thread color that matches the applique and use a micro-zigzag so it is barely seen. I just prefer seeing minimal thread on my applique and is a personal preference. I'll take a closeup of one of the blocks for you.
i counseled today so no blocks completed...tho, after dinner I'll cut a few in preparation of doing some tomorrow.

Close-up of applique stitching... Zigzag: .5 width and .9 length. I use my N foot because the edge of the fabric lines up perfectly. I use Schmetz Microtex needle 70/10 so needles holes are tiny. I like the look of my appliqués with this technique. I'm not one for blanket stitch or satin stitch unless it is for decorative purposes...tho, others have done a beautiful job with these techniques. I do not care for raw edge so, as mentioned before, these are turned edge using Appliquick method.

Thanks Teen - your method turns out really nice. I've typically done satin stitch, but agree that it only looks good when it's part of the embellishment, and I don't care for it when the block needs to stand on it's own.
I'm taking a class this weekend to hopefully learn how to use the embroidery part of my Babylock Destiny. I've only used it for a few small projects so far (the machine, have not done any embroidery with it yet). I love my Juki, but it's a straight stitch only machine.

Thank you ladies and you are so welcome. I've tried lots of applique techniques and this is it for me. A lovely quilt shop owner in Big Bear Mountains taught me how to do this when I shopped her store one day. She was awesome and so helpful! I bought her Row By Row, too, which I haven't done. Anywhoooo..I have the Babylock Symphony and I so want the Destiny. I played with it in the store and a friend bought one. It is a very cool machine. Have fun in the class.....there are so many features on that thing that a class is necessary, at least for me.
Anael....please share your embroidery work. I'd love to see it.
Visited with my LA quilter today when I dropped off 2 quilts. She is so fun. Shared my adventure with Sylvia and she wants to see the blocks. She may just do this quilt though she really prefers LA to piecing. Taught her applique and she was off and running. Lol!! Love that!
4 completed today...tomorrow is my 31st Anniversary so a day with DH...

Happy Anniversary Teen, hopefully you will have a wonderful day with DH!
Here are some pictures of what I'm working on now. The designs are from Hatched in Africa. It's going to be a quilt. For now I only finished a few embroideries

Aneal - those are so pretty! I'm looking forward to learning how to use the embroidery part, and do plan on using it for quilt blocks. I already have several software packages that I've bought on sale.
We have some not so nice weather coming in, and I'm really hoping it will hold off so I can make it in Friday AM. I'm going to stay the night in town and it should all be done by Saturday morning, so the roads should be cleared off by the time I need to head home. And if I have to go slow and it takes me three hours to get home, taht is not a big deal. And now that we are on Daylight Savings Time, it will still be light out by the time I get home, even if it does take extra long.
South Dakota is a rural state, and we also do not have State Income taxes, so there is not a lot of funds for snow removal, and a lot of wide open spaces.
