My grandson says something that makes a lot of sense, he calls last night "yester-night". Every now and then my daughter, when she was little would say, "I just wanted to be sure of you." My little nephew use to call dinner napkins "neckins" since his mom always put them around his neck. The whole family has picked up expressions like these tho others might think we're quite nuts. Then my husband who is from a Slovenian family has taught me to pronounce all the cuss words he knows in Slovenian. Hee-hee.

In grandmas house, you had to call the "couch" by its proper name! There was a Settee, davenport, Sleeper, Loveseat, couch, sofa, and for the life of me can't remember the other one. It was my grandmothers pet peeve! We had to know the difference, it annoyed her to call the settee a couch, the sleeper a sofa and so forth.
It wasn't just her, my great aunts were the same way.
