my outlaws weren't too wild about me at first either, but it was because I had been married before and in their religion that wasn't the most desirable thing to be, and it was their son's first marriage and I think they were worried I might be some kind of flake. Luckily I grew on them, they are really lovely people, and we've stuck it out for 33 years and counting.

Here I will tell you why they don't like me. They are wealthy ppl and my family was not. So they assumed I only married their son to get their money, FIL said this to DH before we ever got married and they still think this way of me. We have never gone to them for help of any kind, financially or emotionally. At one point they had tried to convince DH that I was not a good person. They have tried many tactics to get rid of me. We had a big blow up with them 2 years ago and they were mad because hubby stuck up for me. So now we hardly see them and they only live 6 miles from us. They followed us from Ca. just to cause trouble for us.

Oh! You were "old" when you got married. I was 19 and my husband was 32 &1/2. We had 4 kids and were married 37 years when he passed away. We knew each other 1 week when we got engaged and 6 weeks later got married. Congratulations to you and hope you last many many more.
