OK I thought I was pretty smart but guess not. (My secret pal is an international person. Thought it would be fun to get someone out of country.) So I took my September swap package to the post office to ship and the first price the lady gave me was 45.50. .I about fainted..then she said well if you can take out 3 oz then we can ship for 31.50...ummm 3 ounces you have to be kidding me. Guess I learned the hard way. It's only a few bucks cheaper from the states to ship to Canada and I guess my ignorance figured it would only be a few more dollars to ****** but not amost twice the cost..So beware if your as mailing dumb as me! Guess next swap I won't be international...

Why didn't you just mail it UPS. It probably would have been cheaper.

Did she give you first class airmail or whatever it's called. I swap with an Aussie group and I mail my round robins back and even a completed top I have never paid over $12. I bet it will get there fast.

UPS out of the country is way more than a flat rate package.I had a package that would have cost 3 times as much by UPS versus USPS.

Still, you have to wonder why they're asking for a bailout or they'll go under.

Remember you do not have to get tracking if it's going out of the country, that will save money also.

Oh I know, believe me. When I send stuff to my mom in Germany for her birthday or Christmas it is outrageous what it cost. Most of the time it cost more to ship than the value of the item in the box. Just crazy!!!!
