    Default Ad(vertising) blocker info please

I saw a recent thread in which ad blockers were mentioned, but now I have questions. What ad blocker do you use? Did you download it? Was it free (or how much did it cost?) I am sick of seeing ads all the time and would love to block at least some of them.

When my washing machine died last week, I went online to research a new one. I bought one and it's up and running, but my computer pages are still full of washer ads. I want this to STOP!

Thank you for any info you can provide.

it's called AdBlockPlus. it's a free download. i think you have to choose the one for the browser that you are using.

There are lots of ad blockers available. I don't currently use one, though I have been tempted at times. Sometimes the ads are useful.

I use Firefox as my browser and AdBlocker Plus for Firefox. Free to download but they have a donation button if you want to help support their work. Believe me, it's worth it!

This is what I use as well. Extremely happy with it. There are still ads on the sides/top/bottom of most pages but not the horrible pop up types.

I also use ABP - it only works on Firefox, I think. You can allow ads for specific sites if you wish.

I have Adblock Plus on my desktop computer, which I am using with Chrome. I think it's a Chrome add-on. I use a different one for my iPad; I can look up the name of it later, if you want it.

All the ad blockers I have used have been free. The iPad one is a free download from the App store. For my computer, I think I Google Adblock Plus and found out how to add it to my Chrome browser that way. Which ad blocker you use depends on what type of computer device you are using and what kind of browder you are using to access the website. Googling will usually tell you what to check out.

No, ptquilts, there are different ones for almost all of the (I forgot what they are called!) Like I use the one for Chrome on my machine. Would not be without it!

Oh, OK, I have never tried Chrome, just IE. I wish I had known about them during the days of jiggling belly fat and yellow teeth ads on my email!!

Thanks one and all! I downloaded Adblocker Plus and it started to work immediately!! Much more pleasant surfing without the horrid ads.
