Agressive cat

Right now she's on meds again but she still attacks me. Only solution is putting her down but I don't want to do that because she doesn't deserve that. But I have to admit, sometimes I'm so fed up with her behavior!

I got a kitty from the shelter about 6 weeks ago and he is usually very sweet. Loves to be held, petted, follows me every where. He thinks I'm his mother. But, then there are times he gets frisky and plays hard. He will grab my arm with his claws and then bite me. Like he caught something and is fighting it. I have to keep taking him off my arm and putting him on the floor. He finally stops after 3 or 4 times. I firmly tell him NO !

I had a biter. Learn her biting signals. Every time you see one, ignore her completely. Turn your back to her. If she's in your lap, put her on the floor. Without emotion or stress. You have to be consistent. My cat was an attention whore. Hated being ignored and quickly figured out what was going on.
Also if she doesn't like being petted in a certain area or manner, don't pet her there or that way.
Get a toy on a stick and play for ten minutes a day. Or, teach her to fetch. Exercise helps.
Good luck!

Think they kept her in the basement. Most of the time she follows me everywhere, even walks all over my keyboard, etc. Very affectionate mostly. I am very upset as I love her very much! We have had her for over four years and would like to have her much longer.

I had to keep a squirt bottle handy, even when bed because mine would suddenly switch from cuddling and purring to attacking. It helped. An even better help has been a little sister for him. Someone had a cat who was being abused by her 4 year old son and I adopted her. Now the 2 cats are so busy wrestling with each other that he doesn't think about attacking me. I had thought about having him put down, but love him too much. I frequently got my bed sheets bloody and had serious cuts and bruises.

Apparently I have lots of furbaby lovers for quilting friends! Can't thank you all enough for responding to my plea for help. This last time she bit me , she came to me and wanted to be petted. Before I could even do that she leaned over and did her thing! We are both retired people and outside of doctor visits and food, medicine trips, we don't leave her alone. Immediately after doing it she runs and hides from me. But no fear, I won't give her up, just keep a bottle of peroxide and antibiotic ointment handy!!!

You have to discipline for the biting its the only way. If you let them do it they will think its okay, some do love bite, but those don't hurt or break skin. If this is a bite bite it will take time and you will just have to work on it.
