According to patternbee.com, the original pattern #V272, did not have Sunday. The pattern was re-issued in #672. Simplicity had a pattern with similar Dutch girls.

Thanks everyone. I joked with my Grandma when I bought these that there probably wasn't a Sunday because you're not supposed to work on Sundays. I guess I was right. lol I guess I don't have to make another one. I wish I knew who embroidered my set. Whomever it was, they knew how to embroider well.

I have embroidered more towels than I can remember. One thing I do is I leave off the day. Sometimes I can use my towels for 2-3 days. Then I am all off kilter. So, now, it just doesn't matter which towel I use. When I give them as gifts, they receiver says she likes that - no days embroidered on the towel. Just a thought. Edie

I found this similar set of designs on Etsy, and this one does have a Sunday. http://www.etsy.com/listing/82694994...ys-of-the-week The little Dutch girl may not have a chore to do. She's just holding a bunch of tulips, but I'll bet there were not a lot of families at any time who did not make dishes dirty on Sunday the same as any other day.
