If you can't find anything in "Your Account" and you have no emails confirming the order, I'd guess you didn't complete the order.
The confirmation email comes RIGHT away. The shipping ones comes when it ships, which could be a day or two away.
Is it still in your cart, per chance?
YOU mentioned it was your first time ordering online, so I can see how you might not know there were additional steps. Please don't take any offense at these questions.
If it was 3rd party, did you go back and search the item to see if that entity still has the book listed?
How about checking your credit card online for the charge? Athough that should really happen when it ships. But check anyway.
And if you reorder, and by some chance end up with 2 books, chalk it up to "tuition" costs. Live and learn.
You can always resell the book in the classifieds. ;-)

Oh heaven forbid ... I am taking no offence ... rather I am praising each of you that are helping to hold my hand into this virtual shopping experience.
Your Questions -- My Answers
* my visa has not been charged
* just checked and nothing in the Amazon Shopping Cart
* It was third party ... so will go and see if I can figure out how to check that
My Questions
* 3rd party, is that a good move? or not? -- the 3rd party was the Canadian shipper
* on the printout I had, it said the ship date was to be 4/27 or 28
* looking like I don't have an order, right?
* Amazon customer service ... I'm suspecting there is no IRL contact, only emails?
Thank you everyone!!!!!!!!

when i order on line from amazon i usually get a confirmation number and they notify me (even 3rd party) as to when it was shipped. Did you a confirmation# If so go to their customer service line nd they will track it for you. I have never had a problem ordering from Amazon. They have great service. Sorry you got burned.

What's the printout from? Just off the screen when you think you placed the order? Strange.
Ordering from 3rd party is fine. Fabulous deals. Once in a blue moon there's an issue, but if you don't receive the book, Amazon will refund your money.
I haven't bought 3rd party in a while as I have Amazon Prime, but I'm pretty sure I still always got an immediate email confirmation.
Is there an order number on your print out?

Amazon is just as annoying as eBay in making it hard to find a phone number. YOu just have to go through twenty screens. Ridiculous.
I don't know if this will work for you as it's for .ca Int'l customers (it tags me as in the US) but you can give it a try - 206-266-2882

I'm starting to think that the order is not placed.
What I have is something I printed off while I was online.
At the top it says Place Your Order
After the header it says "Review Your Order"
And then gives all my details re shipping, phone contact, billing, what I ordered, etc.
I'm hoping that I don't get burned .... as in the $ has not been taken out of my visa yet, so hopefully will not come off later.
Hopefully, it's a matter that I just goofed and went offline a step or two, too soon.
Still can't find anywhere to contact Amazon Customer Service, IRL or online

The "review our order" screen has a yellow button to the right which says "Place your order."
So if you didn't hit that, you don't have an order.
Do you see that button on your printout?
But what's strange is that the items aren't in your cart anymore. I've had stuff in my cart for 3 weeks because I'm deciding if I really want them or not. They should disappear.
You see the cart in the upper right corner? Does it have a number in it?

Just saw your # ... have dialed it, and it works. Now I'm on hold, though the $ will be adding up quickly, I'm sure!
Will see how patient I am ... and how fast they are at answering.
