My parents are celebrating their 72nd (that's right, SEVENTY-SECOND) wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day. We cannot think of anything to give them that would be super special. They have been givers all their lives and we would like to honor them in a very special way. Do you wise people have any suggestions???

    Thank you so much,
    Nolee

Have you considered making a donation in their name to a charity or organization they have supported? I noticed you said they are givers.

Put in writing happy memories and how much you appreciate them.

It's such a joy to be able to bring those cards and notes out to read and remember.

A scrapbook of photos and memories with pages contributed by family members and a few pages dedicated to memories from other people.

How about a memory quilt another board member made one with the names of blocks that reminded her MIL of things growing up I found this so sweet.

For my Mom's 80th birthday I sent a letter to all the family members and asked them to send me a letter of their favorite memory of her and then put them in a scrapbook with an old (or new) photo of the family member that belonged to the letter. It was a quick and easy project. You could just collect the letters and then take them to kinko's or someplace and have them spiral bound.

Hire a photographer for the party and take family photos them frame or scrapbook them. We did this for my in laws 50th and it was the best present ever.

If someone in your family is good with technology a slide show would be a thought. You could use a collection of photos beginning with their dating years and progressing up to the present. I would imagine someone must snapped a picture or two each year.
For background music you could use songs that have special meaning to them i.e. their 'special' song, music from their wedding, songs they sang to you growing up.... burn this to a disc & give copies to family members.

Don't know if you are planning a big party but you could also buy a white or light colored tablecloth & have guests sign this for a memento.
