If it is something they have designed but are putting on blog for everyone, then it is public without any registration with Copyright Company. You can ask them out of consideration if you can make to sell to get their permission or else with posting a tutorial or how to do, then one could put in their article that it is ok to make and resell if they want. I saw that somewhere on one of the sites I checked.

Just because someone puts a tutorial on a blog without explicit copyright notices doesn't mean it's not copyrighted! The instant you create a work it's copyrighted. The creator always has the "rights to the copy."

What does copyright protect?
Copyright, a form of intellectual property law, protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section "What Works Are Protected."
How is a copyright different from a patent or a trademark?
Copyright protects original works of authorship, while a patent protects inventions or discoveries. Ideas and discoveries are not protected by the copyright law, although the way in which they are expressed may be. A trademark protects words, phrases, symbols, or designs identifying the source of the goods or services of one party and distinguishing them from those of others.
When is my work protected?
Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.

Scissor Queen!!!! That's a fascinating website!!! I read the story on the M3Girl design......and if that girl wins her court case, then ALL fabric companies should be on alert!!! I still am of the conclusion --- there is very LITTLE new stuff out there....we're just copying the old!!!
And if the original design site I posted about has a copyright then she's a FAR richer person than me (more than likely, true! LOL)....I think it's another case of "putting in the words so someone is fooled"....
I DO know a woman that was teaching me web design that said to put copyright information on the bottom of my pages. I asked what that would cost. She said "nothing, it'll just stop people from copying your pages"........... I think that's happened in MANY cases.

Folks, which design are we talking about? My DIL's mother taught to me most of what is on that BLOG back in the 80's. She lived on OAHU. I did not see anything new on that Blog but the mug mats made from the jeans seams.(say that fast 3 times).
The women is just being proprietory(sp) and a bully too. I don't believe you can copyrite color and the fabric design is covered by the fabric maker.
