Default Another tv series gone weird?

Started watching ZOO when it started-different plot....and curious because author is usually a mystery writer....first few episodes were interesting....then it became more Steven King-ish....watched the episode the other nite....last time I will waste an hour of my life......oh how I yearn for some really good story lines....
anyone here really liking any series? The Last Ship is my last hope!

They do go off the rails sometimes, don't they? We happened across a summer light mystery show called Houdini and Doyle. I think there were only 8 episodes made. Maybe you can find it on On Demand. We have a Roku and Directv and still can't find much to watch.

I gave up watching tv, since there's very few shows that are worth watching. The "plots" aren't there and the actors/actresses of today, just can't act, IMHO.

Really? is Houdini and Doyle over? I was hoping it was just the end of the season. I liked it for the most part. Not the dracula episode but the others. Your right there is so little on tv that is good. Even if it starts good they ruin it in short order.

Most of the Netflix original series are very good. I get Acorn TV through Roku and it is all BBC tv series. Excellent shows. https://acorn.tv/browse/browseall

    ***
*** I agree it has gone off the rails.
*** I read the book and it was very good, but
*** this year and a few last year are total deviates from the book.
*** Some of the characters were not even in the book and that Carraquet town part is weird.
    ***
*** Patterson is now writing or maybe already out Zoo 2.

Oh, I agree...I liked it and I thought it was just the season finale.

Geri, Everybody's personal taste can be so different when it comes to the type of series or movies they like, and without knowing your personal taste, it's impossible to know what you might like, but I'll share some of the shows that I have enjoyed. I do not have cable. I subscribe to Netflix, HuluPlus, and HBOgo. I also have a Kindle hdx which "mirrors" (flings) things from my Kindle to my television, and because of that, I subscribe to DroidTV, which offers a long list of popular series. If you are interested in what they have to offer, go to their website. Also, I watch PBS and I love "Sewing With Nancy".

I would prefer not to watch vulgarity or porn, and profanity can be overdone and difficult to sit through, but I am not a prude, and understand that I cannot control those things. Some of these shows would have been rated x a couple of decades ago. So with that in mind, True Blood is an HBOgo series that is also on DroidTv and Amazon Prime. It is a campy vampire/werewolf/fairy series that I enjoyed immensely. Also, Game of Thrones is a fantasy series that is worth watching. There is a show on Netflix called "Merlin" that is very good. Magic and dragons are involved. There is no sex or profanity, so you could watch it with children. My husband has an interest in zombie shows and disease epidemic/apocalyptic shows, and sci-fi/fantasy, so a lot of things we watch are geared toward his taste. I usually only watch television at night and most often it is with him, otherwise I would be choosing different shows. I happen to like:
CSI, Law and Order, Resurrection, Jane the Virgin, Ugly Betty, Chef Ramsay's Kitchen Renovation and Hotel Hell, Project Runway, Nashville, Reign, Shark Tank, Everyday Edisons, Cops, Toddlers & Tiaras, Modern Family, British Baking Show, Bar Resue, and Say Yes to the Dress. Other shows I watch with him are: Vikings, American Horror Story, Marco Polo, Fallen Skies, Star Trek, Dark Shadows, House of Cards, United States of Tara, Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, and Walking Dead. I like all of the series that I've mentioned. I hope this was helpful. What are your favorites?

We subscribe to cable tv and in our package is a station called The Africa Channel (it's Channel 240 where we live). We just happened on to it last week & watched a 1 hour mystery program called Death in Paradise. The channel is playing re-runs right now. It apparently was a BBC series that is about a British inspector who is transferred to Saint-Marie's police department, but he hates the sun, sea, and sand. The series follow his investigations into murders on the island. I think it began in 2011 and ran for 6 seasons. The thing I like about it is the fact that each episode stands on it's own. It's not one of those continuing series where if you miss the first season you are lost because you don't know what happened in the past. We have such a hard time finding anything decent on tv these days. Another good mystery series is Foyle's War but you need to get on in the beginning of the series on that one. Every now & then you can find it re-played on PBS.
