Okay, I have copied this thread off and put it with my Christmas to do list. Going to be next years wrapping, will have the year to make bags, small and large. Thank you for this idea and photo.

Like the fabric bag idea. Christmas fabric now 50% at my favorite quilt store!

I always do that for my quilter friends but I use large safety pins to secure the fabric. Everyone can always use a couple more of those.

Great way to save the landfills. And your pocket book. Paper isn't cheap for those bigger boxes. And then to be able to reuse the fabric.

    You are a smart girlie!

I sew up bags about every other year. I just buy Christmas fabric when it goes on clearance and then (try to remember to) sew it all into bags throughout the year. They're great to have on hand - makes "wrapping" presents go so much faster!

It's also kind of fun when I get one of my bags back, years later. But people tend to keep them, which is perfectly OK too.

What a wonderful idea! We just had our Christmas Party, with goofy gift exchange. Next year I will "Try to Remember" to tell them to use fabric for wrapping. Ugly fabric. You could make bags of any size for the gift. Turn the top down about an inch from the edge, sew a casing, and lead some of the selvedge through there. Use a very long stitch when sewing these bags and they will be easy to undo and use for ..... anything.

I have to laugh, as I have been wrapping my gifts with fabric for years. The gifts go to non-sewers with the instructions that I get the fabric back when they have unwrapped them. The gifts are unwrapped when I am there, so no chance of the fabric being thrown away. I figured this was a green way of wrapping gifts and I get to save on wrapping paper to boot and no paper mess when through.

What a great idea! They could last for generations!
