Antique vs. Vintage

(Vintage, of course, borrowed from wine labels, "Red Plonk, Vintage 2009".) Now I feel better, too.

Craigslist listings are really guilty of the Antique vs. Vintage...I agree with you...Antique=100 yrs old or more...I hate it when someone lists something, says it's Antique yet it's younger than my 61 yrs young age....and I am NOT an antique...   Naomi

different items are considered antiques at different ages- some things are sellable as antiques as young as 20=25 years...other items do not reach (antique=ism) until well over 100 years old- it is all relative.
some things which remain easily obtainable are considered vintage instead of antique- it seems some items only get the classification when it reaches (rare-dom)...regardless of age...
everyone has their own ideas about what it means- but if you go by definition---
i'm an antique....from the past-

Well, guess I'm a wanna be antique - less than 25 yrs to go - but a pretty good 'vintage'. Either way you look at it, when the name "antique or vintage" is put on an item, it usually spells $$$$ to me. ;)
Is that where the saying "worth more dead than alive" comes from?
